Reviews After more than 2000 road miles our verdict on HJC's new flipfront helmet is in...
Customers praised the HJC helmet for its comfort, fit, and quietness, with improved features such as ventilation, visor operation, and integrated communication options. Despite some weight concerns, the helmet balances well, particularly with the flip-up function. Customers expressed satisfaction with the sun visor, ventilation system, and ease of use. Some noted minor issues with visor or chinbar mechanics. Overall, the helmet was recommended as a quality, affordable option, appealing for those switching from more expensive brands.
The fit is impeccable for my head. Really has a good feel.
Ventilation is probably the best I've experienced on any helmet.
The intercom integration is fantastic, looks really smart if you're prepared to buy a new system with the helmet. Probably difficult to retrofit a different one though.
Unfortunately i was disappointed with the wind noise. I had an early Rpha flip front model that was wonderfully quiet. I then migrated to a BMW system 7 carbon one which was horribly noisy.
I had high hopes moving back to HJC in that regard.
In summary, it's a fantastic lid but it didn't meet my expectations.
I like the wide view and the ability to fit the partner designed intercom. This helmet has less wind noise than the i90 I already use. The chin bar makes it easy to wear the helmet and glasses it’s also handy when stuck in traffic or moving slow to flip the chin bar up for extra venting.
Looks great, comfortable. very nice helmet
Very comfortable helmet with above average noise suppression. Ventilation is good with many adjustments possible.
I previously owned a Schuberth C3 Pro for 7 years and this helmet is quieter than the C3 but helmet fit and noise levels are subjective and down to individual fit and ear plugs fitted.
All together I am very pleased with the helmet and the service from Sportsbikeshop was excellent as always.
Good helmet, flip up is really useful and easy to use even with gloves. The vents are easy to use and it's fairly comfortable the only thing is the noise which is higher than I was hoping for although my bike is a crossrunner so high up anyway.
Very comfortable helmet loads of vents to my head cool and perfect for wearing my glasses
Very comfortable and quieter than my last helmet
I’d been thinking about upgrading my helmet for a while but time was never right. Finally got to try on the RPHA 91 at SBS in Boston and bit the bullet. Difference is night and day from my old Caberg. Fit is great and finish is superb and feels luxurious in comparison. A bit fiddly fitting my Cardo owing to the space set aside for the HJC unit, but I managed it. I love the new helmet and despite what the spec says it does come with a pin lock insert.
I’m new to the modular helmet game and this one has not disappointed. Great amount of wind flow through the openings in the closed position. The opening latch is intuitive and easy to find with gloved mitts. Be aware it comes with a pinlock so you don’t need to buy one like I did. Due to the way the chin bar moves to the upright position it stays close to the helmet minimising the wind drag.
Negatives, because nothings perfect. It’s a little louder than other regular HJC helmets (compared to my HJC RPHA 70) but that’s the trade off with Modulars.
After using this helmet for the last year or so there has been a few problems
I've used two pin lock inserts, both have failed, one of the pin lock pegs on the visor had broken, which has been replaced,
On one side of the visor, the peg that holds the visor in position has snapped off.
When the visor is fully closed, It leaks. Water gets in at the top and runs down the inside of the visor.
Poor!
Extremely comfortable and fits lovely. A little disappointed with wind noise, expected better due to RIDE magazine review - however, all round great helmet (even though the Pinlock insert is not included - my bad for not reading website properly)
Fit and quality of construction are great. Flip front is easy to use, along with both visors. Comfortable to wear. Fastner will take a bit of getting used to, but easy to operate once set.
First class flip-up helmet very comfortable out of the box good venting no visor misting.
Always liked the fit of HJC my last was a 90s.
This one is a lot more comfy to wear and less noisy.
Always liked HJC products but never owned one. The fit is very good, and first impressions are of a quiet helmet with a plush lining and excellent ventilation.
Great fit for me being a medium. I would say very true to size. Schuberth C5 medium wasn t nearly as snug. Venting seems excellent and all round vision much better than my previous helmet Scorpion adx1. The tinted visor comes all the way down and slightly out and is not too dark so can be used more often. I m extremely happy with my purchase and Sportsbikeshop got it to me within 18 hours which I'm still amazed at.
This is a very well built helmet. Having tried on every flip lid I could find, the shape of my head meant it became a choice between the RPHA and Neotech3. The HJC importer Oxford Products was offering a large discount on the Metallic Blue helmet and that £300 saving for helmet and mesh intercom combined became the deciding factor. I didn’t have any doubts about my choice until some riding experience (once ridden, that removes the option to take the product back) when I discovered that the RPHA generates an uncomfortable amount of wind noise particularly with the visor open. Annoying.
I normally take a medium and tried on and it was snug (as all new helmets are) SBS rightly said try at home for 1 hour before taking the sticker off so it could be returned. It was ok for that hour but for more than an hour on the bike it gives me a headache. I can't return or live with it so will try selling on ebay.
It could be this helmet but it is a struggle to open the visor from fully closed.
The visor indents are too weak when open and it blows shut at 60mph.
The top ventilation lets in lots of air but just in one spot on the top of the head which some people may like but not me.
