HJC Helmets

I’ve bought three helmets including this one over the last six months. They all seemed comfortable but after an hours riding they all apart from this started to hurt.
The HJC was delivered on time and packed well. Its plush interior felt comfortable and secure. I’m a 60.5cm head so got the XL. I’ve installed the coms system which fits and works well. The only reason for four starts and not five is it’s a big helmet and my others fitted under my seat but I guess that’s because I’ve a large head.

Perfect fit, no pressure points, good field of vision and internal visor easy to use gloved up and is a blessing to have.

I bought this after reading reviews for quieter helmets. My old Givi had no rating, but an estimated 100-105dB - very loud! This helmet has a qualified rating of 95-96dB, so a lot quieter. It doesn't sound like much, but search for dB scale and you'd be surprised at how much better this is.

The Helmet is comfortable, has built-in brackets to take intercomm systems and cameras, making it lower-profile and more streamlined. I wore this on a 600-mile round trip to Wales, including along the Black Mountain Pass and did not ever feel compressed or enclosed.

Overall this is a vast improvement and recommend to anyone looking for a quieter flip-front helmet!

Top drawer helmet, very comfy and well put together. No problem fitting an alternative headset and earphones. Big plus is the interior visor which can be adjusted to drop down lower than most, only slight negative is the ratchet for the main visor is quite weak and won’t stay open at speed. However, the ventilation through the top of the helmet is absolutely fantastic, best I’ve ever known, and it works!

The service and attention provided by the store staff was second to none, I was given time and space to try on as many as I wanted, in all different styles and shapes, and when I’d narrowed it down 2 hours later was provided an excellent fitting service and additional info. Will most definitely use this store (Norwich) for any future kit purchases.

First of all, I can't fault Sportsbikeshop at all. The helmet was very reasonably priced, arrived really quickly, and was exactly as described. 5 stars for that.

I've been wearing HJC helmets for a long time so I know they fit well and are really comfortable once they have bedded it. This one is going to be the same. It has a good, big window to look out of, too, virtually no encroachment from the shell. The quality is as good as the others I've had over the piece.

I decided to try a flip front for the first time as I thought it might make fiddling my glasses in a bit easier. It doesn't. I can't imagine riding with the front open; after nearly 50 years of full-facers I'd feel very vulnerable. Despite the extra mechanism, the helmet does not feel significantly heavier than my previous HJC.

What I don't like is the noise. This is definitely an earplugs job. There's a lot of wind noise above town speeds without them. The strap fastener is unnecessarily complicated; the older style is much simpler without the seat belt style clip, and easier to use. The control for the internal sun visor is also a pain as it's hidden away down one side of the chin bar with a tiny slider. The older system with the slider on the top of the shell was much easier to use, and meant my hand was off the bar for a much shorter time.

Overall a good helmet but it's trying to be a wee bit too clever for me. Sportsbikeshop on the other hand are quite clever enough.
