Verified Customer Reviews for Zerofit Heatrub Ultimate Base Layer Long Sleeve Shirt
Our customers say…
Customers consistently praise this base layer for its warmth and comfort, with one noting it kept them cosy even during early morning rides. Others mention its thickness and "woolly" feel, appreciating how well it retains heat. Some found it runs small, advising sizing up. A few enjoy its breathability, even in milder conditions, though it can generate static. Despite minor concerns about fit, like sleeves riding up, customers are generally pleased with its performance and quality.

Excellent gear

Friends said this shirt might be itchy but it certainly isn't. Very comfortable and unless really low temperatures can wear it without other layers. Fits well with 37/38 chest. Definitely would recommend.

This is much warmer then the top branded x-warm base layer I have been using for skiing and biking. Very comfortable, feeling nice against the skin. Used at around zero centigrade freezing temperature whilst mountain biking, with just the winter biking jacket over the base layer. Did start out with a mid layer but had to remove that since I was getting too warm.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Keeps me warm as toast whilst fishing in freezing conditions. Will be buying some matching leggins utilising the generous £5 voucher I have been sent

Bit overrated with a lot of hype. brought the cold one for summer used and that was very good 5star so was expecting the same have cheaper base layers that are just as good if not better.

It is warm but it is also not warm

Cold seems to run in my family so staring down the barrel of winter I decided to try this base layer. A friend of mine uses one for hill walking in the depths of winter and swears by it - he reckons all he needs to stay warm is this Zerofit base layer and a shell jacket to keep the water out and he's more than warm enough, so that's got to be a good recommendation, right?
The base layer is a snug fit, I guess it needs to be to do its thing and still allow regular clothes to be worn on top. It's not restrictive but I am very conscious that I'm wearing it. I don't think I'd size up but still something of which to be aware.
It's also quite thick as base layers go. The high neck line is a positive attribute, especially when on the bike and I like that the sleeves are a good length and don't have the habit of retreating up my arms leaving bare skin around my wrists.
Its performance is something of a case of all or nothing. If you're moving and doing anything even slightly physical then it feels very warm, sometimes too warm and slightly uncomfortable. Even light housework while wearing will have you feeling quite warm. It'll make you sweat but then holds the moisture against your skin. When it gets warm it can also feel a little bit itchy.
Conversely, if you're not doing anything physical it feels no warmer than any other sweater. Wearing it on the bike isn't the silver bullet against the cold that you might hope unless you're exerting yourself, hanging off the bars with your knee down on every bend in the road.
But that said, I'd rather wear it than not wear it while out on the bike. As part of a system of layers, this base layer is a good start but even at 8.5 C on the bike I find that with this base layer, a mid layer and my GoreTex jacket over the top, it still isn't enough to keep a comfortable temperature. Another layer or two is needed to keep the chill out of my upper body.
TL;DR version: It's good but no better or worse at keeping out the cold than wearing a few more regular layers under your bike jacket.

I bought this top for a track at the beginning of June at Snetterton, hoping to keep warm while riding my KTM 1290 SDR. Last year, I had felt cold riding around Cadwell Park last summer, due to the amount of airflow through my one-piece leathers. This base layer proved to be excellent, keeping me warm on the early morning ride to the circuit and through the day despite a strong, cold wind. It's also very breathable, so when it got warm in the afternoon, I didn't feel too hot. I was so impressed that I bought the matching bottoms and socks for a recent trip to France that required a very early morning ride down to Dover.

Incredibly warm

Feels quite thick in the hand but compresses nicely when worn. As the weather is warm at the moment I’ve only tested it down to 9°, but even then on its own under a Rukka jacket it was probably too warm. I’d be happy wearing this on its own close to freezing temperatures. Only downside is the static electricity when you take it off, but it’s good fun chasing the cat round the house with it lol.
