Givi GRT709 Canyon Waterproof Pannier 35 Litre

I have delayed writing the review on these to make sure I had some use out of them.
I have now used them multiple times and can say they are definitely worth getting. The construction is good quality and I have found no flaws or faults.
Fitting the mounting plates was very straight forward, the only issue being my sausage fingers and keeping the spacer brackets in place whilst initially fixing in place.
The outer pannier bags themselves are not waterproof however the internal bags are, having them a nice bright colour makes finding stuff in them nice
and easy too. All the strap options means you can tighten down the straps and keep the bags nice and tight, no excess flapping.
For a mid priced pannier set I am not sure why you want to pay twice the price for anything else, I very much doubt anything else is twice the product.
The only reason I have not given 5 stars is the locking mechanism, this is very stiff and fiddly. The key lock to unlock the panniers needs to be worked a lot to make it move smoothly, even with WD40 liberally applied to it, and with larger hands this is awkward to lock it again when mounted on the bike. The key cannot be removed unless it is locked. I would recommend spending some time just opening and closing this lock to get it worn down a little before using.

I used these bags on my trip down to Spain via the French back roads. They are ideal for easy loading and unloading when stopping at different B&B's each night as the inner bags simply pull out. The outer fabric is tough and when I went over on my side on a tough bit of the ACT, they did not rip or tear and simply cushioned the impact protecting the bike to certain degree. The inner bag is bright yellow and easy to see into in poor light and waterproof. At no time during my trip did water get in and it poured down on the first day. My only criticism is they are not lockable so you are conscious about opportunists diving in when the bike is out of sight. The only other issue I noticed was getting back to the UK, all my mates on the same bike (Tuareg 660) filtered through the traffic jams but I was to wide. On the racks the bags if full, the bags can be wider than the handlebars so care has to be taken. On the whole though, very pleased.

These bags are excellent quality kit. Only 4 stars due to the price. I paid £495, I reckon, if you can get them for £100 or so less, you've got a bargain.
These bags are bigger than I expected, they're more practical than the hard luggage specially if you have odd shaped stuff. 35ltrs in each bag is a conservative estimate (and that can be stretched a bit) is good enough for long trips, I'm planning 2 weeks away. I checked out a few review videos before buying and the comments were favourable. Removable, waterproof inner bags are excellent. The extra bottle holder on the rear side, is a great feature. Time will tell for wear and tear.
The only downside is security. Best not keep the family jewels in them!

These soft side panniers arrived quickly from sportsbikeshop. They look really well made, sturdy and I love the thick inner waterproof liners. The bonus is that they open from the top unlike some hard cases which are side opening and things need to be packed so that they don't fall out. Less bulky than hard cases and easier to get your leg over to mount the bike. No throw over straps mean I can lift the pannier seat to refuel (NC750X) Not used them on the bike yet but I'm confident they will perform well.
