Dainese D-Air Smart Jacket - Black

Can only comment on the ease (lack of!) of setting this up and its comfort, hope I never need to comment on whether or not it actually works! Instructions as regards registration are useless, takes you to a website which is no more than a shop for other products, Googled Dainese registration and found the correct site, after registering the jacket it then went through some software upgrade and I thought all would be well then. But despite getting the fully charged status light the product immediately went into low charge alarm mode when I tried it on the bike. So, charged again and the same thing happened and kept happening. Contacted Dainese tech support, took three emails to get any sensible response from them, in the meantime I had taken it up with SBS who responded promptly and professionally and arranged for the jacket to be returned and checked out. According to the note enclosed with its return a couple of weeks later, the jacket had a system reset and they could otherwise find no fault with it. Anyway, the happy ending is that it does now set up and activate, have been using it almost daily for a couple of weeks and no problems. A couple of observations, firstly the status light is difficult or impossible to see when you're on the bike with a full face helmet so you need to rely on the buzz that accompanies any alarm condition, or check it in your bike mirror, but when its safe to do so! Secondly, it fits tight, so bear in mind if you want to wear it over other garments like a jacket or thick shirt, you'll almost certainly need a larger size. All in all, seems like a good buy, just a shame about the set up hassle in my case. But full marks to SBS who as ever responded to the problem and dealt with it, good show guys!

I bought this is it was recommended by a few friends. Delivery was fast, as always.

However, I had trouble with the item as it won't work unless you register it, and I couldn't do it....tried for hours, only to find it had already been registered.

I returned it to the store, and great staff, no quibble took it back and arranged for a replacement.

This has registered straight away and arms as it should. Great fit, light enough a good quality.

As for it's effectiveness in an accident, well I hope have to never put it to the test.

Thankfully can't really say how good it is, and expect it remains that way. Setup was a bit haphazard with not very clear instructions, but there are a lot of videos out there. I tried both under and over a jacket; it might be my sports naked position but under it pushes the jacket up a little and depending on head movements it catches the helmet. Having said that, I don't leave the house without it regardless of how far I am travelling.
