Verified Customer Reviews for Oxford Dakar Dry2Dry Air 1.0 Textile Jacket

4.8
42 reviews
Our customers say…
Customers rave about this lightweight, well-ventilated jacket, ideal for hot weather with a useful waterproof/windproof liner for varied climates. They commend its comfort, fit, and protection despite some noting long arms and separate back armor purchase. Suitable for temperatures from the low twenties Celsius, it keeps riders cool and comfortable. The jacket's practical features, such as easy liner removal and a natural fit off the bike, add significant value, making it highly recommended for summer riding.

Stylish Summer Jacket
27 June 2025 by Desmonut
This is nice lightweight jacket with decent armour for elbows and shoulders. I also paid for the AA back armour which is a little short but offers some protection and is a good fit in the pocket. I chose it mainly based on the slightly unusual but stylish colour scheme which sets it aside from the run of the mill black or garish racing colours. I ride mainly in dry summer conditions so the airtex suits warm summer days. For me I wouldn't use it without the zip in waterproof/windproof liner below 20 deg C. I'll be wearing it with my armoured jeans and summer gloves for warm evening bike-meets rather than getting into hot clammy racing leathers, boots and gloves.
It's typical Oxford quality at a great price.

Great Jacket
26 June 2025 by David
I have to admit that for the price I wasn't expecting much but this jacket exceeded expectations. It looks good and fits well; I am a 42 chest and the Large was perfect. It's comfortably snug over a T shirt with the liner in and is very comfortable with it out. It has a good length at the back as well.
On a humid day I found the air coming through the mesh very refreshing.
I can't vouch for it's waterproof qualities as I haven't worn it in the rain.
The only thing I would have liked is a specific pocket for a mobile phone but otherwise, at this price you can't go wrong.
Oh, and not forgetting the usual excellent service from SBS!

A mesh jacket that’s perfect for Scotland
25 June 2025 by Ian
The waterproof liner is what makes this jacket worthwhile. Very seldom are the days hot enough and dry enough to justify buying a mesh jacket, but the liner allows you to wear it throughout the summer. It is well made and true to size, and at £99 for this colour it’s a real bargain.

Surprisingly good value
25 June 2025 by Anonymous
Given a 4 star rating only because of the build quality not being exceptional, in fairness you can’t expect this at the price. It is lightweight, haven’t been able to try on a scorching day (Scotland), size is accurate, don’t buy it to be big as there is plenty of airflow. Add the back protector for £25 it’s a no brainer. You wouldn’t use it for all weather touring, so this really is for warm days or Fly ride Med tours. Really pleased with it.

Great value summer jacket
22 June 2025 by Simon M
Saw the Ride magazine review for this and at the discounted price too good to miss. With the lining out this has been fantastic in the recent hot weather. Sure, some of the details could be better - the collar is a bit scratchy and with back protector in it pulls the jacket back a bit but still a great buy

Only one inside pocket
19 June 2025 by Robert W
Very happy with this jacket, it really is ideal in hot weather, particularly useful if you do trips abroad.
Good quality as you would expect from an Oxford product.
The sleeves seem to be rather long so thats good if you are on the tall side. Very strange how there is only one inside pocket. So wallet, phone, specs etc all have to be squeezed in.

Fantastic lightweight jacket

Great quality as usual from Oxford clothing, super light weight and the mesh is great on hot days. Removable liner is looks and feels good although not personally tested in the wet yet. Highly recommended.

Surprisingly good.
09 June 2025 by Edward C
I do like Oxford gear.

It's consistently good quality and excellent value. I purchased this jacket as I wanted a summer jacket with decent rain protection. I have just come back from Holland and Belguim and I can say it performed very well. It was cool enough for 20+ degrees and survived the rain showers without any rain ingress.

I wouldn't suggest it's as good for rain as your more robust jackets, but for the odd shower, it was perfectly good.

And the colouring is a little different from the stock photo but a nice contrast from the normal black which you see everywhere.

If it's on offer, and even if it isn't, it's well worth buying.

Quality at a reasonable price
16 May 2025 by Paul B
I bought this jacket and the trousers equivalent as light weight summer clothing. The finish is very good and the fit is spot on and in my case true to size. The waterproof liners are carefully considered and easy to take out and put back in. The trousers are ditto to the above and the thoughtful addition of integral braces is good. Oxford products have been around as long as I have been biking and you always seem to be able to rely on the products. Very Happy.

Excellent
04 April 2025 by Colin T
Perfect jacket for me. The sizing is spot on. It's extremely comfortable. I haven't tried it in the rain yet but the reason I bought this jacket is because when I go to Europe in summer I prefer mesh jackets because the temperature is usually very warm but I find my normal textile is to bulky for me.
I am hoping the inner lining works well. Also if it is hot then the lining is not bulky and can be packed away easily.
It looks good as well. I would highly recommend it.

Great jacket
10 February 2025 by Martin C
This jacket is exactly as described. The fit is perfect to size. I'm 6ft 3 and ordered the XL. Arm length is perfect as is the body. There is still enough room to wear a warm top underneath the waterproof lining should this be required. Haven't worn it yet in hot weather but I expect it to be good as there is plenty of open mesh panels. The jacket looks great and well made. I already have a Oxford back protector. My only criticism might be that the waterproof lining is a little tight around my neck.
Of course always the perfect service from SBS.

Perfect Summer Jacket
12 August 2024 by Alex C
Absolutely perfect summer Jacket. I live in Indonesia and I was super skeptical about any jacket labeled as a 'summer jacket' since it's hot here all the time - naturally it seems alot of them are aimed at the UK summer. This however, is perfect for hot hot hot stuff. With a vest/tank top and this on, it basically just feels like you're only wearing the tank top. Shirt or whatever underneath, perfectly warm enough at higher altitudes. Not tried the waterproof liner but that's not what I bought it for. Definitely on the small side, and the arms are very very long to the point you need to use the poppets to get the position of the elbow/shoulders pads to sit correctly - really not a big deal though. That's by far the biggest and only let down. Build quality as expected from Oxford. Very happy with this jacket. Bought the additional back protector too which adds abit of weight and a more reassuring feel.

Completely different colour but great mesh jacket
04 August 2024 by Scot W
Colour is completely different, it's no way near as dark as it looks, the body section is a light green/olive colour, and then the arms are slightly darker than that but still no way near as dark as any of the greens in the picture. It's actually a lot lighter a summery as you'd expect from a mech jacket.
That's also the same for the other colours, I went in expecting to buy the brown/tan/White version of this but it wasn't really what it looked like, the brown was very faded, it was just kind of a mix of light beiges and didn't look as adventurey as the pics.

This is my first mesh jacket and it is extremely cool with the airflow, I actually left the lining out and was absolutely freezing in 22 degrees. It was nice coming home from work in about 25 degrees, very cool, could probably wear this over 30 degrees, and I run really hot so I generally don't ride over 28 degrees becauee I get too hot and sweaty and annoyed, especially getting on the bike after putting all my kit on.

With the lining in I was wearing it down to about 17/18 degrees and it's still cool, the lining is a very good windproof liner but it's not a padded thermal liner. I reckon with a jumper as well as the liner I could probably wear it down to about 15/16 degrees, so quite versatile.

Top marks

Bought to replace my old vented kit on an upcoming Spanish trip. So far fit and finish well up to Oxford's high standards and as a larger gentleman I appreciate the cut. Can't wait to put it through its paces in Spain.
