Brilliantly comfortable, but my first pair leaked

I’m now on my second pair of Klim Outlander Gore-Tex Leather Boots, so this is very much a long-term, real-world review rather than a first impression. My initial review still stands from when I reviewed these boots last year.

The good bit first: these boots are exceptionally comfortable. They feel much more like a quality walking boot than a traditional motorcycle boot, which is why I bought them. They are easy to wear all day, comfortable off the bike, and the BOA closure system is excellent. It makes them very quick to get on and off, gives an even fit, and is much easier than messing around with laces or buckles when using them regularly.

Protection-wise, they feel very reassuring for a short boot. They are not a full-height touring or off-road boot, but for commuting, touring and general road use like I do, they strike a very good balance between comfort, practicality and protection I think.

The reason for the 3-star rating is waterproof durability. My first pair covered around 20,000 miles and were fantastic until their second winter, when they started leaking between the sole and the upper. For a Gore-Tex boot at this price point, that was disappointing. Waterproofing is one of the main reasons for buying Klim/Gore-Tex kit, so once they leak, it is impossible to overlook.

That said, the warranty support from Sportsbikeshop and Klim was excellent. The boots were replaced at no charge under the Gore-Tex/Klim warranty, and this replacement pair has now done around 10,000 miles with no leaks so far. That gives me confidence in both SBS and Klim standing behind the product.

So overall: comfort is genuinely outstanding, the BOA system is excellent, and when they are waterproof they are superb boots. However, my first pair leaking between the sole and upper means I can’t honestly give them 5 stars. The warranty response was excellent, but I’d rather not have needed it in the first place.

TL;DR: A brilliant boot in use, backed by a very good warranty, but marked down because the first pair failed on waterproofing.

The boots are good looking, easy to do up with the BOA system. I’m normally a size 8 and needed a 42.5. First impressions are favourable regarding comfort etc even though they do come up a little small so you would struggle with thicker socks. Hopefully they’ll pass the first deluge test

Ordered a half size up, wasn’t enough. Rang up the returns and exchange process to get the next size up was easy quick and efficient. The boots seem great, waiting for my new bike to arrive at the start of march to ride in n them, but look good and great service as always

These boots ticked every box for me. The build quality feels premium, Gore-Tex actually works in UK weather, and they give off just enough tactical-operative energy without looking like I’m auditioning for a film. I did have to size up one and use the included insole, but the fit is now spot on. These boots are supportive, weatherproof, and comfortable enough that I don’t walk like a malfunctioning robot. Great purchase.

Spent year in military and now a firefighter so spend a lot of time in boots both on and off the bike. These are hands down the best fitting all-round shoes you can get, tbh I've worn them more for walking the dog than bike in this current weather but are holding up perfectly on the bike as well. BUY THEM!

The Boa lacing system is just perfect.
I bought them for comfort on and off the bike and they do not disappoint. Klim quality you can expect but the comfort, light weight and lace system are game changers. Cheers again S.B.S.

I’ve always found Klim clothing to come up small so opted to try these boots on before purchasing. I’m normally a EU43 so when I saw my closest size was EU44.5 my thought was they would be huge however I was so wrong. These boots come with a sole insert to compensate for the half size so theoretically these boots would now be EU44. I tried them on and found I didn’t need the insert so they do come up small so worth trying on before buying.
The BOA lacing system is a revelation for me being first time of wearing them and they transform putting these boots on. They create a true custom fit so 5 stars for that feature alone.
The boots are comfortable straight from box and so light you forget your wearing them.
Wore in the rain and found fully waterproof. I’d recommend these boots for daily riding all year.
