Reviews HJC's popular RPHA-70 is on the way out. And the RPHA-71 is on its way in...
Customers generally appreciate the helmet's fit, comfort, and construction, often comparing it favorably with other brands. While praised for value and features like internal visors and easy-to-manage comms systems, several customers raised concerns about noise, particularly wind turbulence and visor mechanism issues. Some had challenges with the visor’s functionality, while others found it superior to previous models. Overall, the helmet is favored for its quality and value, although noise remains a notable issue for some.
Bought this as my first proper helmet for my mod 2 and now full license, after trying on many different helmets in the Milton Keynes store. Other helmets in the price bracket (I got it on offer in all fairness), don t come close to the overall quality. It s true to size (M) and a genuinely comfy fit with excellent ventilation. Internal sun visor is great, pin lock was included and fitted at the store. Also has proper D chin strap which I prefer over quick ratchet ones.
Before purchasing I did a fair bit of research on this as well as its equivalents from agv and shoei. At first I was put off by the wind noise reviews, but honestly I can t say I notice it, in fact it s a lot quieter than the one I ve been renting whilst doing DAS. Can t please everyone so opinions vary. For the price I cannot fault it. (£250)
Also, massive thanks to Lee at the MK store, genuinely a lovely bloke who cared about what I was buying and helped huge amounts with everything. I bought all my kit from this store because of him.
It fits really well and my Cardo unit was able to fit in the helmet comfortably as well
I like the comfort, the sunshield is second to none, the air vents are superb and the overall quality is brilliant. The only drawback is it's a little noisy but that could be my windshield.
Yeah, not much to say on this one. It's typically the brand. It's just a decent helmet. I've seen a lot of reviews online for wind noise but I don't know what they're on about. Plus, I'll ride with ear plugs anyway. I believe anyone that rides a naked bike should ride with earplugs. The only issue I would say with the matte black is obviously fingerprints but who cares right?
After years of wearing Arai helmets this is just as comfortable with the added bonus of the flip down sun visor, unlike others doesn’t feel top heavy
Had a hjc when I used to ride, now getting back into it went with them again, lightweight helmet, had a issue with sizing as the xl felt to big and the l was a bit tight but it has started to loosen up now, just the dreaded break in period
Comfortable, doesn't mist up to bad , plenty of vents , tinted internal visor .
Great fitting and quality
Good fit, good price. Shame no pinlock.
Lovely fit for me. Tried on a few in store and this was the most comfortable. I use a Sena hands free kit and this also has loads of options to fit the speakers, microphone and unit itself. Designed brilliantly
Really good helmet, excellent quality and comfortable. I have fitted Sena/HJC Smart 50b intercom and it looks very sleek. Amazing airflow.
I have to drop couple of stars for visor opening position and wind noise, unfortunately.
As the latch of the visor on the left side, opening the visor with the right-hand, which I prefer to do, is quite difficult, meaning I have to reach across the helmet onto another side. This could be just a preferance as I had Shark helmet before with the latch on the right side and was better in my case.
As others have mentioned, wind noise. It is definitely noticeable and especially on higher speed. Personally, for me it is not as bad as the others are saying and I do not have ringing in my ears after hours of riding. However, it is much louder than my previous Shark helmet.
Will be probably looking into other brands after this one.
Hjc are my favorite helmet for probably the last 20 years, must of had 10 in that time and still have 3 even today
In my opinion this helmet is super comfortable as you would expect from HJC. In comparison to my older model RPHA 70 it is louder but ventilation system is better but again is louder as it lets more air in.
On a rainy day with pin lock attached didn't fog up at all so I think I just have to get used to the noise and enjoy not having to open the visor to get rid of the fog.
Brought to replace the previous HJC helmet after 3 yrs of ownership. It does seem to be suffer slightly higher wind noise than before. As if the ear area has been left out for padding. And HJC moving to Sena comms locations does reduce fitting options for Cardo. Got it fitted ok but a bit of a waste of options. Just leave it standard and owners can suit themselves
My girlfriend bought me the HJC RPHA 71 - Matt Black helmet along with the HJC Bluetooth package and I absolutely love it best present in 52 years … the fit and comfort of the helmet is amazing… the Bluetooth I was taken back the sound quality is great on both sides best present ever
