If it feels like armour in your bike kit then the law demands it is actually proper, protective armour. Here's how to tell how effective your impact protection is...
Oh what a nice bit of kit for a summer bimble - and on sale too!
Excellent fit, armour not too intrusive. Surprisingly doesnt much airflow through the fabric. had to open buttons to let air in on 30c day in june 2025.
Nice to walk around in doesnt look odd even with armour.
great value for me a must buy for summer
This is a great Riding Shirt; Single Layer, so fully protective but without the Kevlar Lining which can be too hot in good weather.
I wear mine without the protective insert, over my Knox Action Pro Armoured Shirt and a wicking Base Layer. This is really comfortable on a warm to hot day
Currently £99.99 from Sportsbikeshop, which is a really good deal
I've bought other motorcycle shirts before, but they usually feel more like jackets than actual shirts. This one isn’t quite a shirt either. It's more of an overshirt, but it's impressively thin for a AA garment. The sleeves are a bit loose, probably to accommodate the Level 2 armour which, at the elbows, is barely noticeable. I just wish the shoulder armour was the same. They tend to stick out a bit, at least for me. Overall, it's a very nice, stylish, and casual option for riding on hotter days.
Great product for safety wirthout feeling overdressed
The shirt looks like normal clothing which is a big plus if you are not planning to look like Rossi. It is quite fitted so if you are a porker, not for you
Great product well fitting as always great service from this outlet
Size chart accurate I’m 6ft with a 44 to 46 chest and is perfect. Arm length is spot on. Service and delivery couldn’t be better
This was on special at Spotsbikeshop so I picked it up as I already have the blue denim version. These are ideal for the warm weather just cruising and as the back armour fits both I have no need to buy another protector. Packed away now for a tour in Scotland with my waterproof Montreal 4 which also has the same armour so I only need the one set for all three.
This is a really nice garment and something you could easily wear casually off of the bike.
The shoulder armour makes for awfully big shoulders but is easily removed.
I bought this for dotting around town on hotter days and it will do that job just fine.
Good to wear as a casual jacket as well as for protection while riding.
CE AA and level 2 impact protection gives you the confidence to wear this summer shirt and remain cool while riding in the hottest of temperatures.
Looks stylish too.
In my experience the arms are too long relative to the body length but if you can live with that then its a comfortable summer alternative.
The Oxford Original Approved AA Shirt is much better than the description, better than Oxford themselves say it is.
The shirt has a rear pocket for the back protector, this is not mentioned but an important feature. The fabric is a proper solid heavier weight of denim, it is more like the weight of a denim jacket, rather than a casual denim shirt sort of weight. The zip is nice quality. The poppers are reassuringly firm, not difficult to do up, just nice good quality if you know what I mean. The cuffs have a two popper adjustment and a zip, so you could have longer gloves and zip them inside the cuffs.
The armour is the Oxford chunky soft yellow foam armour (their cheapest option), but it is level 2. The shoulder pockets that take the armour are a very snug fit, level 2 D30 armour would not fit in the shoulders, in the elbows you should be ok. I thought the armour might be a bit uncomfortable and too chunky but when riding the bike I didn't notice the armour, so it was actually no problem.
The fabric also has a bit of stretch to it which adds to the comfort. It also has two belt loops, inside either side of the shirt, again a nice feature but something not mentioned. It only has two outer chest pockets and a large inner pocket, the inner pocket does not feel that secure, it's somewhat baggy, so I'm not sure I would put any valuables in there, that's the only thing I think could be improved. I'd like an internal phone pocket. The fabric is not as free air flowing as you might think, being a thick denim it is not going to flow air like a mesh jacket, but it does allow a nice amount of air to percolate to stop you from sweating on a warmer day. I wore it at 24oC with just a T-shirt underneath on a naked bike(Bonneville) and felt comfortable up to 70mph. I also reckon on a dry colder day with a jumper or thermal underneath it could work quite well, it would keep you warm but still be breathable.
The sizing I think is true to size but slightly towards the larger end for the size. For info the 2XL measures 63.5cm armpit to armpit when laid flat.
For the money I think this is very good value and is much better than the description suggests.

Good shirt for the warm weather, but the size guide is a little out.
Ordered 3 XL for a 48" chest but was about a 54" fit, returned for an XL which is about right.
Quality seems good, not had to test the AA approval yet!
Great service ordered a wrong size exchange no question asked have only worn it once but happy with the fit
