Advice & Guides If it feels like armour in your bike kit then the law demands it is actually proper, protective armour. Here's how to tell how effective your impact protection is...
Customers found this back protector a great alternative for jackets lacking adequate protection. Praising its flexibility, breathability, and comfort, they noted it fits various jacket brands seamlessly and provides confidence while riding. Customers appreciated its lighter weight and enhanced airflow compared to older models. Though slightly less comfortable initially, it quickly adapts to one's body shape. Considered a valuable upgrade from level 1 protections and available at a reasonable price, this product comes highly recommended for improved safety and peace of mind.
Fits well in my leather jacket and offers soft flexible protection. Does not fit my textile jacket but I only sized it for the leather, so just be aware of sizing when ordering for your jacket.
Bought it for an rst leather jacket
Size large fits perfectly
Flexible
Does exactly what you want it to - fits well and good quality.
I bought this for a BMW leather jacket. Really comfortable and excellent quality.
I bought this to get better back protection than the one that was in my summer mesh jacket. Good protection and very breathable, and at a great price. Be careful of the sizing, I thing the sizes given are including the box, read the manufacturers sizing guidance and go with that.
Purchased for a Merlin Hamlin 2 hoodie in Large and the D30 Viper Air protector in Large fits perfectly.
It took me a little while to figure out that 'Viper' is the shape and that it'll fit any jacket that's designed for D3O Viper - regardless of the brand name put in front. My jacket is Merlin and I wanted both the level 2 back protection, and the ventilated version of the Viper shape. The weight and squishy-ness is confidence inspiring, and once I'm on the bike, the whole jacket/armour combo melts into the background. Really happy with this. Hope I never need it.
Bought this for my Belstaff Crosby Jacket as Belstaff had 5 months to wait until availability of theirs. The large Richa size was perfect for the Large Belstaff jacket. It’s comfortable to wear in the jacket. Hopefully it will never be put to the test but I’m glad it is in place.
Hope I never have to test it, nicely made armour though
D30 is always good, need to measure carefully but they fit a range of jackets
I returned to biking in July 2025, got an Oxford jacket from the bloke thrown in with the Inazuma 250. Synthetic jacket, seems decent enough but had a pathetic piece of foam/sponge as a back protector so decided to upgrade to this(and level 2 arm,/shoulders as those were level 1). Measured the foam and it matched the M protector, fits perfectly, adds some warmth too now it's getting colder outside. Sportsbikeshop should include detailed sizes with ALL their armour they sell, makes it easier to upgrade if your kit isn't listed as a direct swap....
This back protector is lighter than others I have. It is flexible and comfortable probably due to its airy construction. I have in the back of a Richa leather jacket and it doesn't look bulky. I also like that it's Level 2 protection. Very pleased.
Love the lightness and flexibility of this for my Bering XXL Norris Evo jacket but maybe could have bought the slightly smaller variant. I feel it puckers the back a little bit maybe I'm just being a little took critical.
Maybe I could shave off a tiny of three extra external to make it fit that little bit better without impacting the structural and it's safety integrity. Maybe not. It's been in the jacket for months now and I don't notice when I'm wearing it.
Hopefully I'll never need this but it's lighter than my smaller level 2 Oxford in my other jacket.
Fits my Belstaff Crosby perfectly. Great bit of armour
I bought this to replace the slither of foam that came in an Alpinestars leather jacket. Its nice and flexible, but the size is relatively small. The jacket I fitted it into is a UK 40, euro 50 so a small/medium and I bought the medium size back protector, but the large size would most likely have fitted as well or better.
Feels great in jacket. Flexible and looks like it will do the job
Very flexible and breathable and an upgrade on the L1 ghost my jacket has previously.
It should be noted that the extra protection comes at least twice as thick though.
Light and comfortable .
