The label inside your boots will tell you about what tests they've gone through, and how they did. Here's how to decipher those labels for yourself...
Gaerne have a very good reputation in the adventure and offroad community and that shines through in these base level offerings. They are very nice quality boots for the money (I paid £135). Made from thick and tough coated leather they offer a very supportive feeling and take a little breaking in but are also very comfortable out of the box. The sole is chunky with a central steel shank (tested with magnet), decent lugs, good grip and flex where you need it. The buckle clasps and ratchet adjuster straps allow plenty of range for fitment and the boot can be really snugged down nice and firmly with a positive locking 'snap' on the clasps. I have not tested the waterproofing. Size wise I take 7 to 7.5 in shoes / walking boots but these in size 8 fit perfectly with thick hiking socks, so if you too are in between sizes then 100% go for the larger. Overall they are reassuringly solid feeling boots that fit well, flex in the right places and offer a good level of comfort. Also the toe box is not so tall as to cause gear shifting issues and the front shin armour, whilst chunky, is slim enough for fairly narrow legged jeans to stretch over. I would recommend these boots to anyone looking for great value sturdy adventure styled boots.
Early days but these appear to be well thought out boots that should be up to the job intended. It hasn't rained yet, so the jury is out on their waterproofness but I am confident the design is conducive to them working. As others have said, they do come up small and are quite narrow in the foot but I think they will be comfy in the long term.
These boots are comfortable and offer good protection. I have purchased this brand before and know that they are a tight fit. I would recommend ordering a full size bigger for the perfect fit.
Appear to be good quality boots but go for the full size larger than you currently are in shoe size as others have mentioned. They've been around Scotland so far in all weather conditions and have kept my feet dry so far so good.
I bought these to replace some old boots which were leaking. Great comfort and very sturdy. Feel very protected. I have given them four stars as yet to try them in very heavy rain but I have no concerns that they will perform. I actually went for my normal size and they fit perfect.
Whilst at the moment, they are a reasonable boot and I haven't done a lot in them.
It is fair to say there is a decent amount of rougher tread on the boot, which makes gripping whilst walking in them better than my sportier boots, getting used to that on the pegs is a little different :/
The strap system up the leg means you are more able to tuck in trousers in the wet weather as it is forgiving and not relying on a zip to close.
But, we will see as time goes on :)
Wanted waterproof boots that keep my feet warm and dry, but also comfortable enough to walk around in. After only two days walking about the house breaking them in they are super comfortable. These were the third pair of boots I ordered from sbs, who dealt with the my returns and telephone call due to a change of mind excellently. Well done sbs????
Other reviews that I read said they come up on the small size and guess what, they were not wrong. Im not complaining because I like my boots to fit and these do even though I ordered 1 size up. very snuggly. Its a very wet Jan now and my feet have been warm and dry, I do 100 miles a day.
The clasps can be frustrating and as the boot softens up and gets to that lived in feeling, I will probally mark the movable hook with a blob of nail varnish because they have a tendancy to slide off optimuim setting if your not careful. Overall. Highly recomended. They will give years of service.
Good boots. Order one size larger as they come up small. I am always 42 but needed 43. Going to take some time to break in as I can't change gear at the moment very hard to bend ankle very stiff. Seem very warm and are water tight so far..
Order a full size bigger. I went half size up and found them a bit narrow.
Apart from that well made Italian quality and style.
Really pleased with price and delivery from SBS.
Boots appear well made (time will tell) and fastening buckles and clasps look up to the job (other adventure style boots I've had they've been a little flimsy)
Rode a few days in heavy rain on my 30 mile commute with no problems.
Agree with other posts, having had Italian boots before these follow the same pattern; slim fitting. I take a pretty standard size 42 (8) and I have a relatively narrow foot and ordered a 43 (8.5) and they're a perfect fit so order at least one size up.
Solid boots. I rode 100 miles in heavy rain on 6 degree C day. My feet remained warm and dry.
Be aware that sizing is small. I normally wear size 44 but needed 46 in these boots. Sportsbikeshop service was excellent, as always.
Excellent solid boots. Need a bit of breaking in, sizing on the small side so one size up, cosy and no leaks
Easy ordering on site, will use again.
Good snug fit, ordered a size above as advised. Not ridden in rain yet.
