This was bought as a replacement for a faulty Tomtom. The operating system is completely different, but still reasonably intuitive. The Zumo fires up quickly and has a bright clear display. One main difference between this and the Tomtom is that it wil display time of arrival and miles to the destination, but not at the same time - you need to toggle between the two.

Surprisingly good quality for just a sat nav case. Sturdy hard case is well made and the sat nav fits nicely. Would recommend.

This is my second of these (for different bikes obviously). I really like how it works. The warning system is really effective and I like how it flashes if someone comes up from behind you very quickly. But it doesn’t work in the rain (seriously) and it’s difficult to wire. Get the proper tools to do so if you are doing it yourself and double the electrical contact point by folding the Garmin wires over itself (I hope that makes sense). It’s overpriced if compared to the other brand out there, but it’s a very neat system with good range.

I really like the Garmin SatNav and I don’t see the need for the updated XT3. It’s bright. Easy to use. It has a lot of features (perhaps too many!) but I’ve never had any issues with it. The electrical wires are thin though, so if you are wiring it yourself you will need a proper crimper and not the standard cheap ones that most of the shops carry.

I have had mirroring devices around the £200 + mark but not a patch on the XT2. You certainly get what you pay for. Solid well made, dedicated gps, no problem when there is no phone signal, charges straight off the bike (BMW 1250gs) using a 3DAM adaptor, no messing around with keeping your phone charged or carrying a battery pack. (mirroring devices eat phone batteries). The power of the XT2 is unbelievable, like a mini computer. I ride 99.9 % on road in the UK and Europe, planning routes/tracks using OsmAnd, it is easy then to transfer them to the Tread app and onto the XT2 where you can leave them as track or it will convert them into a turn by turn route. The processor is very quick also the re-routing. My main gps for the past 11 years has been a TomTom Rider 400 which has served me well but the XT2 is light years ahead. Off to France and Spain in June all routes loaded so let's see how it performs over about 3500 miles.
