Advice & Guides Motorcycle CE armour markings explained
If it feels like armour in your bike kit then the law demands it is actually proper, protective armour. Here's how to tell how effective your impact protection is...

Customers praised the vest for being comfortable, well-built, and fitting well over various jackets. They appreciated its clever lanyard system and felt reassured by its protective features, even if a bit heavy initially. Feedback highlighted that the weight is negligible when riding. Some mentioned challenges with size and recommended proper sizing advice. A few noted the bulk and required some adjustment for convenience when off the bike. Overall, customers valued it as an important safety addition to their riding gear.
Needs the quick release kit as it makes it so much easier. Cooler in the summer heat than I expected.
Was a little weary of buying an over the jacket air bag system after having read that they can be very heavy. However, while this feels as if it's got some weight to it, once it's on you don't notice. It's very comfortable to wear, with the adjustable zips on the sides it fits well over both my jackets. It's far more comfortable than the bulky back protector I was wearing under my jacket and will offer far more overall protection. It feels well made and the zips are good quality. Some of the reviews say that the attachment mechanism can be a bit fiddly, but I haven't found that, it's very easy to clip on and off the bike fitting even wearing gloves. A very worthwhile safety purchase.
I upgraded to this airbag after watching Bennetts’ review, which gave an excellent overview of its safety compared to competitors.
One thing to note is that it comes up small for the suggested sizing. I would recommend going one size up from the indicated measurements. Once you get the right fit, however, it is very comfortable to wear.
I use it over a Knox armoured shirt, both with and without a windproof jacket, and it works great. What is not immediately obvious is that there are zips on the lower sides of the vest that allow the bottom section to expand by a few inches. This is useful if you have a larger belly or if you want to wear it over thicker motorcycle jackets during winter.
However, there is no similar adjustment for the chest area, which I found to be the limiting factor. Unless you size up, it can feel tight across the chest. Compared to my previous airbag (Helite) this is relatively foldable and fits easily in the pannier which is a major plus when you arrive at your destination.
Overall, I would recommend it. It feels well made, is competitively priced compared to other options, and I would buy it again.
Its a little heavy but you dont really notice when its on. Doesn't limit mobility on the bike, clever attachment system but definitely worth buying the optional quick release. Gets a bit warm on hot summer days at low speed even if wearing a full mesh jacket.
I've not tried its protection abilities and hope I never do
The vest is a great addition to my safety gear, feels comfortable on and is unobtrusive while riding. I also like that you can buy refills should the vest airbags deploy.
This got great reviews online and wanted a lanyard type airbag and as this has a seatbelt style design on the lanyard which works the front and rear bags. (Yes 2 in 1).
Pros looks very understated and hard to tell I you are wearing an airbag. Is comfortable and easily adjustable for with or without a heavy jacket.
Cons it’s weight but I did forget I was wearing this once on the bike and connecting the lanyard is fiddly.
But so far seems good and hopefully will never need it.
The MAB M1 is affordable for an airbag, comfortable and well built. The tether is very clever and I trust it to trigger even in a rear-end. Only downside is the canister and trigger mechanism can be felt on the back if you sit down on a chair with it on. So you have to take it off when you're off the bike and sitting down like at a cafe.
After watching the Bennett bike review of motorcycle airbags I decided to get this one, it doesn't look too imposing like some other airbag vests. It's heavy but when youre wearing it you dont notice the weight at all. Fits great over rev'it tornado 4 jacket. Im 6ft and 78kg, a Large is a great fit
I've used this for a year now found it very comfortable, and doesn't restrict movement like some others I tried on. 5*
Good fit, not to heavy easy to attach to bike. Only used in colder weather so far, might be hot in the summer. Hoping not to test the deployment, only reason I gave a 4 instead of a 5.
I tried on every vest they had. This was by far the most comfortable, top performing and also met my requirements. As usual the great value and sportsbikeshop service was a major factor too.
Fits well, I had to change my original jacket, as they were far to heavy, I now wear a heated jacket, a lighter water proof jacket, and the air vest. Which is comfortable
It took me a few months to decide what airbag to get. Really glad with my choice im a size 14 ladies and brought a medium size. Delivery was faster than expected and it fits like a glove. Hopefully I will never have to use it !
We bought these after reading all available reviews of the various airbags on the market. These seem to offer the best protection when deployed. This was the primary concern as opposed to whether the product was electronically or manually initiated. The materials feel very premium and it is comfortable to wear. We just completed a touring holiday and even after rain (it's best to wear this type of air bag over the top of any water proof gear) it always seemed to not retain water when putting it on the next day. Recommended.
It is great airbag no to heavy but nice and confotable t
Perfect fit over my normal jacket, very comfortable and does not feel heavy or get too hot.
This doesn’t necessarily look cool, but I wouldn’t go out without it. I have set it off twice now once in the house while messing around and the second time when I stalled the bike at a junction. although an airbag would’ve been unnecessary. it definitely protected me from any injury. Although the first time I set it off, I was messing around. You really have to try hard to set it off by accident. The vest is also very easy to repack and reset with the tool and cartridges. I don’t think I would ever ride without an air bag again.
Haven't had to use it but super easy to set up, it comes with a seat strap and a frame strap to attach the bag to (I used the frame one whoch attaches to any bolt under the seat). Otherwise there's nothing much else you need to do. The only downsides are that it's quite bulky and heavy, but that's three price of the extra protection this has over some others. My Astars Tech Air 3 is definitely lighter, but doesn't have the extend back and neck protection on the M1.
