If it feels like armour in your bike kit then the law demands it is actually proper, protective armour. Here's how to tell how effective your impact protection is...
D3O, you can't go wrong. As they're bigger than most the coverage is better than most, so they're safer whilst being completely comfortable when worn.
Hip protectors don't get any better - excellent coverage yet highly comfy. These XTR protectors are CE level 2 (plus, they are tested to not lose their level 2 rating in cold temperatures). The broad coverage ensures hip protection and boosts comfort (smaller armour can be uncomfortable because it digs in). If Carlsberg made body armour, it would be XTR.
Good protection. Bought for Oxford jeans and they fit well.
Nice shape armour, light weight, flexible, breathable
Fits perfectly into my older forcefield long pro pants.
Good purchase
Replaced the standard thin foam from my dainese race suit. not only do these offer better coverage and protection, but they also fill out the fit a touch for me also. when riding can't even feel they are there.
I did consider armoured shorts instead, but these appeared to offer the best coverage and protection level without having to sit on a buttock protector also.
Fortunately, I have not tested these, however, they are very comfy and contour the hips.
Upgraded from the standard armour and along with the knees.
Bigest most noticable feature is comfort, they allow air through just the same and have better impact qualities.
I can confirm that the Rukka D2O XTR Hip Protectors measures in at 19cm Height x 17cm Width.
