Verified Customer Reviews for Gerbing MicroWirePRO Heated Premium Jacket Liner
Customers generally praised the Gerbing heated jacket for its exceptional warmth, often outperforming competitors like Keis. Many found the heat distribution effective, keeping them comfortable even in freezing temperatures. However, recurring complaints about the design, particularly the short glove connectors and the need for additional controllers, were common. Fit issues were noted, especially with tight arms and restrictive sizing. Despite quality control concerns and minor inconveniences, most customers acknowledged the jacket's superior heating capabilities, often declaring it a game-changer for cold-weather riding.
Not had chance to try out properly as yet but reviews on Gerbing products look promising.
Product is well made - great fit and warm.
I used to wear a base layer under my previous gerbing vest (which lasted 10 + years and could generate more heat) which made keeping the vest clean easier. Not sure yet how i will wash and keep the vest clean ( no doubt it’s all in the intructions or label ). Electric connectors for the trousers are now from an outside pocket rather than the inside which i find curious. I preferred the old style for this. Connectors for the gloves are also shorter which has pros and cons.
I bought this jacket December 2024. At the end of winter, I commute on a daily basis all year round, I had to return it as the right hand glove cable didn’t work and the back was overheating despite only being on setting 1 . I waited approx 5 or 6 weeks, luckily the weather had warmed up. I heard nothing, after several phone calls it was decided to supply me with a brand new jacket. Beginning of December I had to send the jacket back again. The arms stopped working and the right hand glove cable didn’t work either. I waited approximately 4 weeks for it to be returned. Fingers crossed I don’t have any more problems. Staff at Sportsbikeshop have been great, they have helped where they could.
Very warm
I recently changed to an ADV bike after cruisers for the past 12 years and with that thought I’d get some new gear. Having trolled the online shops for a few weeks maybe months looking at different gear I found that rather than big bulky multi layer jackets, I could get this product and use a fairly lightweight protective outer shell for riding in the cold.
I’ve worn this at about 6 degrees Celsius under a leather jacket for about 2 hrs riding and only had it up to level 3 and I didn’t feel the cold on my arms and torso at all.
I bought with it the dual controller to add the trousers later on and the only down side I have noticed is that the dual controller is a bit bulky and hard to stow away in pockets with all the extra cable.
But a really good product overall and I don’t know why I never invested in heated gear in the past.
Brilliant heated jacket, very warm. Comfy. Top service from Sportsbikeshop
Like the fact that it keeps me toasty dislike the short wiring in the sleeves as it feels tight
These jackets are a game changer every motorcylist should own one
Very smart and effective. A little bulky if you like your outer jacket to be a close fit without it. Controller (purchased separately) also a shade bulky, but very effective. All so easy to install and operate. Excellent product.
Great quality and fitting.
Warms up nicely and remains toasty.
Bought gloves to match - could be easier connecting as this is almost impossible without someone else's help as leads are very tight to pass through any external jacket.
With temperatures dropping I decided to buy a heated vest. I already have Gerbing heated gloves so though it natural to match the vest.
The jacket fits well and is warm. I'm really pleased with it.
But…I had to spend an additional £42 for the controller without which the heated jacket is just a jacket. Keiss throw the controller in for free. I probably would have bought that if I didn't already have the gloves. Which brings me on to the fact that the wired in leads on the jacket are far too short. I know I'm not the first to say this. I had to spend a further £16 on some extended leads for the gloves.
A great jacket that has been spoiled by a bean counter somewhere not giving attention to detail and lining a pocket.
Close Gerbing, but no cigar.
This has changed my winter riding experience. After many years dressing like the michelin man and having limited movement in winter, I now have both freedom and warmth. I now only wear a tshirt, this heated jacket liner and my textile jacket with the thermal layer removed. I have much better mobility and am toasty warm even on the lower temperature settings.
I use the dual temperature controller with this as I also have some Gerbing gloves. I purchased the dual wireless control to mount on my handlebars and I would encourage others to do the same, as it makes the whole experience much nicer being able to adjust things on the move.
Size wise, I would use the size chart on the Gerbing website, as the one that shows on Sportsbikeshop does not match it. I am 193cm and 93kg with a 44 inch chest and fit snuggly in a size XL. I tried on the XXL as well, which although fitted more like a normal jacket, was too bulky when trying to fit under my textile jacket and left an air gap in places which would reduce the heat transfer.
First test, temperature at 2 degrees on setting 2 and I was comfortably warm all the way to work. Wish they'd had these in 80's when I was a courier.
Doesn't just keep the cold at bay but warms you up. Was going to get a Weis jacket but the Gerbing was a better fit although a little tight around the neck.
Happy with the quality and may go back for the gilet for summer use. Definitely recommend.
Has made riding in colder weather much more enjoyable. As said many times the glove leads are a little short but did pull to an acceptable length. For my neck and jacket combination the collar does add significantly to bulk just below my helmet and chin strap adding unwelcome resistance to turning my head.
I would replace it if it ever stops working.
Had Gerbing gloves already so made sense to get the jacket liner to compliment and was not disappointed.
If anyone has heated seats in their car, well it's just like that but all round your body.
Once on the jacket / gloves combination is very warm, but what a palaver. Initially the wires to the gloves were too short. By undoing a knot in the cable you can find more to thread through. Shouldn't there be enough already provided? The button on the jacket controller is too small so if you decide to change the temperature you have to take your gloves off. Surely you should be able to this on the move as you can with the gloves? I also have doubts about the quality of manufacture? Time will tell. With the extra price of the controller, I do not feel this product is good value for money. In retrospect, I would not have bought it.
Good quality smart looking mid jacket which I bought to go with previously purchased gloves. Would have been 5 stars if there was temperature adjustment on jacket. Also agree with other reviews that glove connections aren't long enough for ease of use and connection. Works extremely well but will need the controller as had to keep unplugging as so hot.

Is the heated jacket washable?

Hi. I'm looking for a lightweight under jacket which is battery powered and temperature controllable. What additional kit do I need to buy with this jacket (or the more basic one) to enable this? Many thanks. Steve
January 27, 2020This jacket can only be powered from Gerbing's 10Ah Portable Battery and you will need to purchase either the new Digital Jacket Temperature controller, or the Gerbing 12V TC-Portable Temperature Controller - Single to adjust the heat settings.
Hi guys, I'm a little confused as to the differences in this premium as compared with the basic. It seems that with basic you DO get the temperature controls with the jacket and with Premium you don't - however you do get in built connections for gloves?
December 30, 2019The fundamental difference between the Basic and Premium Jacket is that the Basic model will NOT power gloves and/or accessories. There is only one wiring circuit contained within the jacket which heats itself and nothing else. The BASIC jacket comes supplied with a simple controller allowing you to adjust the temperature to suit. This is because Gerbing assumes that if you opt for the PREMIUM jacket, you will be connecting gloves at least. Therefore, a dual temperature controller will need to be purchased depending on the model of gloves purchased.
Does this have any means of controlling the temp on the actual jacket or is it just full power without the controller?
November 6, 2019If you use this jacket with the battery harness only, the jacket will function and operate at the maximum heat setting. In order to adjust the temperature, you will require an optional temperature controller.
