Ignore the touring claims and this smart jacket from Rev'it has a lot going for it...
I needed a new jacket as I have lost some timber.
Knowing sizes differ from manufacturer to manufacturer, it made sense to visit the Leeds store knowing they have a great selection available and are well priced.
I was able to rule in and rule out which jackets that caught my eye and were within my budget.
The Revit Horizon 3 is lighter than my previous jacket, well thought out and fits well. The thermal liner can also double as a smart looking destination jacket which is a bonus - no pockets though?
I’m recently back from a week in Wales and the jacket made touring a breeze. Kept me warm on morning starts and comfortable in the hotter parts of the day with the liner removed and the vents open.
Only given 4 stars as not yet tested in the rain but so far so good?
Waterproof it certainly is! Bought for a touring holiday to Spain and France where the rain comes in downpours. With the air flaps open, I also felt comfortable in 37 degrees sun while riding!
Don't follow the sizing chart on sportsbikeshop -- its wrong! Measure yourself and follow the sizing charts on the Rev'it website.
I am 42" chest and according to sportsbikshop, I am a M. That's the wrong size -- I am an L according to the people who made the jacket.
The jacket itself is good, its very warm and has kept me dry in the rain.
One issue for me is with the insulation inner jacket. When in use you can only use the Short connection zipper on the inner jacket to connect to the pants. I end up tucking the inner jacket into the pants in order to use the Long connection zipper. This is just me though! Most people don't connect their jacket and pants.
The only other issue is the cuffs, I just wish they had a zip as well, instead of always having to just use the velcro - over time that will fail.
Overall, it is a good jacket -- I wanted as much armour as I could get. Level 2 everywhere except for the chest.
After advice from tall female assistant in Leeds branch tried this jacket; being 6ft4in tall wanted long body and arms but slim fit in a lightweight laminated shell without need for separate waterproof liner. Decided on the large size which fits a treat, and still allows Gerbing heated jacket underneath. this dutch made jacket definitely has taller people in mind; thanks again to that assistant
I am 180cm (5'11) and slim build, 38 chest, 32 waist. I bought a size M with enough adjustment to grow or shrink.
August 2022 I had an off while wearing the Rev'it Horizon 2. The incident was around 50mph on a B road and I was able to walk away with broken ribs and lacerations to my knee. The jacket worked preventing any rash. On this jacket I added the chest armour to hopefully prevent the chances of broken ribs but it does make the jacket bulkey around the chest and less space on the inside pockets.
If you want a comparison between horizon 2 and the zip was 2/3 it is now 3/4. the 2 had magnets to keep the vents open where as these are metal poppers I preferred the magnets. The added map pocket at the back is nice but I miss the fleece lined pocked behind the front pockets. Otherwise front pockets are similar. The 3 is much softer to the touch making it more comfortable, the 2 feels more crinkly/stiff.
Waterproofing I have not had any problems.
It was this or an Oxford Mondial, I tried both on and the quality, fit, style of the Rev'it was definitely worth the extra cost.
So far, water/wind proof in very inclement weather!
