If it feels like armour in your bike kit then the law demands it is actually proper, protective armour. Here's how to tell how effective your impact protection is...
I like sastec armour and have level 2 in the shoulders elbows, hips and knees. Of my pando moto upper and lower baselayers. Wanted to top it with level2 back protector which I'd had a furygan d30. The sastec is a little thinner but being rectangular in find it more comfortable as it doesn't dig into my shoulder blades. The sastec is flexible so it's able mould into the curve of my spine and doesn't have as much of a raised profile with my jacket on.
As the title suggests, this fits perfectly with my Bowtex Elite jacket.
While it is noticeable (being a Level 2) while not riding, it does not feel uncomfortable at all.
While riding, I barely notice it. Takes the shape of my back, it's nice and flexible.
Couldn't find a "BMW" Part Nr or an alternative for the Savanna Jacket. This Insert was the perfect solution... fits exactly into the internal mesh liner and stays in the optimum position for spine protection. Absolutely wonderful, comfortable and solves the problem of missing back proctector.
