Mammoth Original Disc Lock
Customer Product Reviews
It does what it says on the tin, but the size of the gap was a bit too large for regular brake discs. It's however, mostly a deterrent for joyriders rather than high end thieves as they will take the bike with the lock. So with that in mind, it does it's job as it should.
Plastic cap broken upon arrival
I'm sure the lock is fine: big and chunky bolt that goes through the gaps in the brake discs, but the black plastic cap is a waste of time - was broken in the packet when it arrived. I'd probably buy a different one if looking again.
Quick, additional deterrent
I chose the 10mm pin as my disc brake will take it. It is fitted in seconds - slide it on and push pin down to lock. I squirted a bit of WD40 (as tipped by another customer) which made the pin release a little more easily. The plastic weather cap fell off after 2 days of use but the carry pouch helps to avoid dirty smudges when pocketed after release. Good value for money as a quick, extra deterrent. Also have a chunky chain lock for more substantial security.
Neat but a little fiddly
Benefit of the doubt 4*, this thing is quite nice and compact (6mm),and I like the plastic weather cap. On mine the lock is a bit fiddly to get it to release though, but perhaps that's a knack thing. Comes with a little canvas pouch with a belt loop/small strap combination so you could attach it to the bike somewhere, but the velcro fastener isn't mega secure.
Mammoth disc lock
The mammoth disc lock is simple to use and does what it's supposed to. It isn't fancy with alarms or anything but a simple solid well made lock that is fairly priced. It comes with a handy carry bag so all in all I am satisfied with it and have no complaints
Good Disc Lock
Good solid lock for the money. Handy to carry in the jacket pocket or top box. Bright colour and comes with it's own little pouch to keep it in. Paired mine with a slinky type lock reminder to avoid trying to ride off without removing the lock.
Cheap and cheerful
For the money this lock does the job as an extra deterrent. It's very visible and seems strong. Only slight issue is it can be a little difficult to unlock at times just because the key doesn't always match up correctly inside the lock. This would be the only indication that it's not a top end price lock. Worth spending the money for an extra bit of piece of mind.
