Advice & Guides Waterproof textile jackets don't have to be a big-money affair. Here are five budget belters...

Customers are generally quite happy with this jacket, noting its comfort, warmth, and waterproof capabilities, even during adverse weather conditions. Many appreciate the adjustable fit, ventilation, and protective features like elbow armor. Some customers mention it being a bit tight around the collar or lacking a back protector, which they had to purchase separately. Generally regarded as well-constructed, it seems to be a worthwhile investment, especially given Oxford's reputation for quality in similar products.
Fits well, good quality and very good value for money
Good fit, went for XXL rather than usual XL and its still a bit snug with base layers & the quilted liner in, but not too bad.
Doesn’t come with a back protector and unfortunately the pocket is too small for the one I’ve got.
Warm and waterproof so far.
It’s an absolute bargain at £85 (was £200) although this is because the 5.0 version has just come out.
Excellent well made jacket. May need to buy one size up as it is tight around the waist for us older chaps, good length though.
Not tried in the rain yet but looks like it will do the job.
If you are a larger chested woman then this will be perfect for you
Excellent jacket, warm, comfortable, waterproof & great value
Manufactured well and great price
Amazing build quality for the money. Medium weight with a true to size fit for me and decent arm length. Cuffs are Velcro adjustable and can be made to fit under or over your gloves. The Oxford back protectors (separate purchase) fit well. So far good in cold and wet conditions. Only feature I would change is the neck adjustment which would be better for me if Velcro. There are 2 studs, the widest is tight (on an XL) and you would need a bean pole of a neck to use the tightest adjustment stud. But for less than £100 it’s a minor issue.
Was a nice fit, just ordered my normal size, not tried out yet but seems well made.
I have been looking for a jacket which can be used in all weathers, this Oxford jacket is excellent and great quality, it is true to size, the armour is really good.
I would recommend the jacket to anyone looking for a textile jacket.
The inner liner is removable it has vents for use in warm weather which is very useful.
I would rate the jacket 9 out of 10 for price and quality.
I’ve always ended up getting Oxfords range of clothing, even after looking at rival brands. But for the quality at their prices you can’t go wrong. It’s an amazing bit of kit , comfortable and well put together with the knowledge that you will be warm and dry when you get your destination. Has loads of features like adjustable sleeve straps and vents all in the right places to keep you cool.
Had to get one size larger as arms are a bit short.
Well ventilated without the thermal inner. Warm with it in.
Stood up well to medium rain.
Does everything it says keeps you warm and dry
It’s a great jacket for daily commuting through winter,. It definitely waterproof and really comfortable. The one gripe would be the lack of chest pockets however the 2 pockets it does have are very deep and spacious.
Bought at end of October and pleasantly surprised how warm it keeps me - t-shirt and over-shirt is all I've needed despite single figure temperatures. Fairweather biker so haven't been in worse than light shower - no hint of water getting through. Stitching, zips, etc all seem top quality though zip to attach trousers doesn't match mine. Slight niggles - doing up collar awkward and bottom of jacket not quite wide enough when astride bike
Nice fitting and looks good quality, not worn much yet but have had the trousers for some time and have been very pleased with them. And good price in sale.
This the first oxford jacket I have bought and it's pretty good. It could do with a couple of zip pockets above the lower pockets and should have a back pad as standard but I bought one and put it in. Main zip catches in the flaps material which gets annoying. My previous jacket was a weise and I only got the oxford because of the offer price. It's a good quality jacket but I will get another weise next time.
Supposed to be an upgrade from my previous Montreal 3.0 which has been faultless for the last 5-6 years
The 4.0 lacks some of the features that came with the 3.0, there is no longer a built in rain hood, the zip of which there is now only 1 is made of plastic with a velcro secured outer flap, the waist adjustment requires either a third party or removal of the jacket to adjust, the "thermal" liner is just a zip in whereas version 3.0 had toggles as well which were very useful for feeding & retaining cables for heated kit.
Only level 1 body armour & no back protector yet the difference in price of the Oxford level 1&2 armour on on the excellent Sportsbikeshop website is a couple of £'s to the consumer which in reality would be pence to Oxford in production.
For the price it's ok, if you can find a retailer with old stock Montreal 3.0 I would get that in preference as it's better built & will last longer.
As I already own a Oxford summer jacket I thought I would purchase this as a spare winter jacket. Fits really nice and I also like the button collar fastener rather then velcro. Wore it twice so far in the rain and it kept me dry as expected.
