Customer Product Reviews
Not for me
Rather disappointed. I found them difficult to fit and were easily moved out of position when pulling on crash helmet. I could only get them in with a little bit of lubricating. I'll leave that to your imagination!! They gave me the same muffled feeling of ordinary earplugs so all in all a bit of a waste of money for me. Seem OK for some but not for me. Back to foam ones. No mention either of special cleaning kit until you open packaging, Oh, nice container though.
These are my first pair of ear plugs, so unfortunately I have no comparison to make. However, before I started to use them, my ears would be ringing after taking off my AGV K5 and I'd suffer after long trips. These completely cut down on wind noise, but you still hear your exhaust. Just watch out for your speed as I was used to listening to revs as a judgement and the first two days found I was driving a bit faster than usual.
Cuts out so much wind noise
Great ear plugs that fit snugly and have a really good aluminium carrying case that is small and fits on your keying. A great product that cuts out so much wind noise and fit well. Great service from Sportsbikeshop too - delivered ultra-quickly :-)
You need to make sure you push them right in to the ear canal so they all three "flanges" are inside. Then they are a big improvement over disposables. First ride I wasn't impressed but I didn't have them in properly. Second ride was a ride over the Preseli Mountains in a lot of wind and they were fantastic. The ride was much more pleasurable and relaxing than normal. Highly recommended.
Fantastic earplugs they fit really well. However they seem to block less wind noise than foam ones but that might just be me since I haven't worn foam since for comparison and my helmet is terrible for wind. However they do allow you to hear everything else clearly which is beneficial so all in all a good buy.
Better than I expected
Bought in advance of a long trip with a fair time spent on the motorway. Pleasantly surprised-I've found that as long as you place them nearly fully into your ear they stay in place very well. Helps a lot to dull the wind noise, bit of a struggle to hear people unless they shout but it's a trade off.
Really takes the sting out of the wind noise when riding on the motorway. I can hear my music/sat nav from my Scala G9 absolutely fine. Haven't tried it yet paired with a mate but I'm confident that should be OK. I particularly like the small case they come in too, means I can clip them to my keys when not in use and keep them clean. My only gripe is there isn't a size option, I find I really have to jam it into my right ear to make it stay, left ear is fine. Essential kit for motorway riding/touring, especially if you're using a Bluetooth.
Overall a better alternative to foam plugs, which cancel out all noise. These do exactly what they claim, and do make a difference if you have a comms system in helmet. Only downside for me is the material they are make from make them difficult to insert without a bit of lubrication which in turn make them fall out when your helmet is on and you turn your head and the lining of the helmet move your ears slightly. Other than that a top product, worth the money, and the metal container to keep them in is a nice touch.
Does what it says on the tin
Purchased a Triumph Street Triple last year with twin Arrow cans. Love the bike, lots of fun but I personally (being an old f*rt) find the exhaust note a tad wearing after a few hours. So purchased a set of these ear plugs and its a definite improvement. Not too quiet, that you feel like you've suddenly gone deaf. But enough to cut out the drone of the exhausts and return the fun to the whole experience..
