XCP Professional - Rust Blocker Clear Coat

Use this on my Honda XL750 Transalp, brings the engine and all the plastics up lovely, nice bit of protection against the nasty Scottish winter road salt, goes on easily.

Great stuff which is also very easy to apply.

Buy it. It works. It’s clear so doesn’t look like the bike is smothered in some sort of open water grease.

Haven’t been using this for months yet, it’s basically oil in an aerosol. I do think it will stop corrosion, leaves a nice semi gloss finish. I’ve been using it after each deep clean.

I’ve been using XCP Clear on my bike through winter and honestly it’s one of the best corrosion protectors you can get for everyday riding and storage. The clear coat sprays on nicely, dries to an invisible, non-sticky film and seems to cling and penetrate into tight spots really well — especially if you use an aerosol or a compressor to get in the nooks and wiring looms. It spreads easily thanks to its low surface tension and creates a long-lasting barrier against moisture, salt spray and rust without making the bike look grubby. �

In independent tests — including the extensive Bennetts BikeSocial corrosion comparisons — XCP Clear came out at least as good as, if not better than, many rival rust inhibitors and was recommended ahead of ACF-50 in terms of overall corrosion resistance, material safety and finish. ACF-50 still protects well (it’s great at killing existing corrosion and is widely used), but in the salt-spray and long-term resistance tests XCP’s formulation tended to hold up better and stay on longer, whereas ACF-50 can stay more liquid and run off more easily in comparison. �

ACF-50 is still a solid classic choice (especially if you want something that chemically neutralises existing corrosion and is aviation-trusted), but it tends to be thinner and needs more frequent topping up on extremely exposed surfaces. �

I ride all year round, and I always treat my bike with rust protection. I've used ACF-50 in the past and thought I'd try this stuff based on the Bennett's review. But I've not got any evidence that it's either better or worse. But it is easy to apply and doesn't leave a nasty film or anything.

I use this on my year round commuter bike (aprilia 1000R tuono) and it protects it from the worst of the winter road crud and salt I ride all weathers and wash the bike down weekly. It's very easy to apply a thin layer and one can lasts a good few applications. It also leaves a nice glossy finish where it's been sprayed if that's important to you.

It's winter so regular thorough washing and a quick spray with this on any exposed areas is a good idea. The testing done by Bennets seems to show this is effective.

I’ve tried most rust protection products and I like this one the most. Better in the clear coat version. Spray it on exposed metal after I’ve washed my bike. After a U.K. winter my bike had no visible rust.

Easy to apply by spray or cloth, long lasting clear film, goes a long way - good value. Keeps winter corrosion at bay.
