Sports helmets are straightforward, lightweight lids that suit riding on road and track
Customers generally express high satisfaction with Shoei helmets, highlighting their comfort, superior quality, and safety standards. Many appreciate the lightweight design and excellent ventilation system, noting its effectiveness in providing a cooler riding experience. The helmet’s stability at high speeds and reduced noise levels are frequently commended, contributing to an enhanced riding experience. However, some customers mention issues with the visor's locking mechanism and noise levels, even with vents closed. Despite some concerns, the overall perception remains positive, with many recommending the product for its comfort and reliability.
Great fit, true to size.
Pinlock was a bit of a pain to get on, almost broke it.
Wish it had a slightly more sporty appearance with a spoiler, but the closest shoei/arai piece was 400 quid more.
So far held up in light/moderate rain. Not noisy at all (yet to test on a busy motorway)
Bit pricey, but you pay the brand, you pay KNOWING it's going to be top quality.
If you have the cash to splash, a buy in my book.
Needed a new helmet to replace an HJC RPHA70. This is a big improvement, comfortable and much quieter ( although I do wear ear plugs mostly)the quality of finish is excellent and the interior feels very good. Visibility is good and overall I am happy I spent a bit more.
Comfy, quiet, with all the features you could want apart from a drop down sun visor.
High quality and plush interior. Pockets for speakers make fitting a cardo a breeze however I doubt this would fit the larger 45mm upgrade speakers. The outer shape does make attaching the cardo unit a bit awkward but it's no major problem once you find the right spot for it.
Great choice of colourway and Shoei PFS means it's easy to get the perfect fit.
Easily the best helmet I have used, far and away above my AGV and HJC helmets.
I’ve had a NXR for a few years and it was time for an update … visited the Milton Keynes store and decided to try the NXR2 and an Arai Quantic - seems I’ve definitely got a ‘Shoei’ head! The Arai was really uncomfortable but the NXR2 in contrast was comfortable and fitted perfectly. Leigh was fantastic and made sure the helmet fitted correctly. The helmet is nice and light and quieter than my original NXR. The Balsalt Grey is a nice looking colour and much better looking in real life than in the photos so if you’re interested I’d suggest seeing it in the flesh.
Only downside is it hasn’t got a built in sun visor - but that’s what helps keep it light and compact - however I’ve ordered a photochromic visor so that sorts out that issue. Looking forward to a few years use out of this.
Perfect fit, top quality build but most of all comfortable!
Which makes wearing it even more of a pleasure
well made, and comfortable, nice and quiet, but like in all Lids I still use (and recommend) ear plugs.
I like the doubleD chinstrap buckle, it may be old school BUT it gives a secure fixing.
Pinlock is also great and does a good job.
Lack of a sun visor isn't a problem, as glasses fit into sides of helmet really well.
Light enough to be worn all day and would recommend Shoei, price is worth it.
Upgrading my first ever helmet after 5 years I wanted a premium product, so naturally went for Shoei/Arai. Really good light, ventilated lid for the money. The liner feels very good quality. As a sport touring lid it really does miss out from a drop down sun visor and I find the Double D fastener more fiddly than a ratchet I'm used to. Can easily slip sunglasses in to counter the lack of a sun visor. Visor replacements are available but not the cheapest.
Thus is my third NXR and the latest model us an improvement over the original. In particular the larger aperture
Not so keen in the extra button required to open the visor, but having the visor opening lever in the middle is much better than on the left of the previous model
Bought this to replace my old Shoei XR1100, which was a fantastic helmet. This looked great out of the box and made my old helmet look dated. The fit is a little more snug but still very comfortable. Air flow is great. It’s not a cheap helmet but you get what you pay for.
Good quality, fits well, light, great looking.
Not quite the right fit for sadly. Very premium feel and I like the style but it was a little too tight so sticking with HJC
good product I believe you get what you pay for
Firm cheek pads hold it snug to your face, quality chin curtain and vents work well, what is not to like, does everything you expect from a shoei helmet.
Deffo an upgrade from my RPHA 11 .... which was also a great helmet, but this just feels more premium and comfortable. Would recommend!
I purchased this having had HJC helmets prior and I do understand why you pay the price for the premium. The finish on this is lovely, it's snug, comfortable, and considerably lighter weight as well as much quieter than my old helmet. Shout out to the staff at SBS Reading who took a lot of time helping me with sizing and trying different cheek pads. This was, I will note, the only Shoei helmet that was small enough to fit me in a XS in the range, I did try the XXS, but comparatively the XS was too big in other Shoei models. I don't miss the drop down visor tho simply because the quality is so good.
I have been everywhere trying to get an xs helmet and found exactly what I needed at this shop with help from the friendly staff
After trying another (cheaper) brand have returned to Shoei and have no regrets. Excellent fit and finish, you get what you pay for. SBS's excellent try before you buy sealed the deal.
Got it as a 40th gift to myself.
Coming from HJC. My Shoei lighter, sturdy, great graphics. Very happy
