Verified Customer Reviews for Shoei NXR 2
Our customers say…
The Shoei helmet received mixed reviews from customers. Many praised its lightweight design, comfort, and excellent ventilation. Positive reviews also highlighted its quiet performance, rigorous safety features, and snug fit once adjusted. Some customers had issues with the visor system, finding it difficult to secure partially open. Several noted it being tighter than expected, especially around the cheek pads. Overall, the helmet was recommended for its quality, though a few felt it could be improved for specific riding positions or slightly adjusted for a better visor mechanism.

Quality but noisy
27 September 2024 by Gabriella N
Great lightweight helmet, but very noisy without having any music on. Whistling sound even without any vents open. So if you like to ride without music (or singing) pick something else, but other than that, can't fault this great lid

Shoei NXR Helmet
17 September 2024 by Craig R
Ordered this Shoei helmet after a visit to the Bristol store.
After trying on several makes with the expert advice from Courtney (brilliant guy) who spent a good amount of time with us, we were advised to order a different size cheek pad to prevent pressure on the cheeks. Helmet arrived in the colour we wanted, which looks better than on the pictures, once the cheek pads were changed the fit is perfect. Pin lock (supplied) was an easy fit & all ready to go. Helmet is light in weight & very well made.
Top service by SBS as usual.

Really decent in some ways
11 September 2024 by Johnny C
So I'll start off with the not so great. I'd read a ton of reviews before buying and most said the lid was quiet..it's not. Even with all vents closed it's noisy. Secondly, if you want to ride with your visor up a click or two, make sure you're riding under 20mph! It drops itself much above that. I can ride at 60 with the visor halfway up but it's a really loose mechanism.
Oh, and the Sena 10s I ride with needed to be fixed using the sticky pad as the original fixing wouldn't really work without messing with the padding.
On the plus side, fit is fantastic as comfort is excellent. Loving the 'who's that with a red helmet?' visibility and vents are excellent. Can definitely feel quality.
So pro's and cons but don't regret getting it…

So good I'm buying it again.

Been using this helmet for a few months and it has been brilliant, the fit is great and I have a clear view from it. Had a recent accident wearing this helmet and it fully protected my head. I will be replacing it with a new one.

Excellent quality helmet
10 August 2024 by Dave M
I've been wearing a Shark helmet for about 3 years, that cost around £150. I've just started doing a daily commute of around 60 miles, mostly on the motorway and wanted to find a quieter helmet with better ventilation. This Shoei NXR2 does exactly that for a few hundred less than many supposed rivals.. You can see and feel the high quality in the padding, which is much more extensive than in cheaper helmets. There's also a removable chin guard to further reduce wind and noise, although it doesn't do a huge amount.
The ventilation is superb. Open the main slider on the top fully and you can feel a breeze over the top of your head, with the warm air leaving via the exhaust vents at the back.
Visor has lots of opening settings and clips securely fully closed.
Also comes with a pro pinlock anti-mist visor insert that works perfectly.
Really comfortable to wear and, with the chin vent closed, a lot quieter than the cheaper helmets I've owned before.

Better than Arai
09 August 2024 by Mark B
Previous 6 helmets all Arai, got fed up of broken side pods. Bought this Shoei & it really is far superior. Great quality, visor/side pods no issues here. The best thing, its so much quieter than previous helmet's. It meets the latest safety standards, what's not to like, go ahead treat yourself to a Shoei NXR 2

Comfortable
12 July 2024 by Steve D
After just getting back on a bike for the first time in 12 years, I decided to visit the Preston store to try before I buy.
I'd done a few google searches beforehand and really liked the look of the Shoei NXR2.
I was stuck between the medium and large. Eventually going with the medium after some excellent advice from a staff member in store.
The fitting of the supplied pinlock visor was easy after watching SBS YouTube video.
I used the helmet for the first time yesterday on my CBT. I had the helmet on and off from 9am until 3pm.
A very nice comfortable lightweight helmet which seems to disappear on the bike.
The visor system was easy to use on the fly with summer gloves.
Remember to try before you buy to get that fit right.
It might just save your life...

Comfy and quiet
08 July 2024 by Lee T
Very comfortable lid, first shoei I've bought. Took a bit of getting used to how quiet it is. Small made, usually a m/l but had to go to xl in this. Excellent service as usual from sportsbikeshop. First class

Usual Shoei Excellence
15 June 2024 by Steve W
Bought to replace my ancient Shoei GT Air. I have tried the NXR 2 in store many times but didn't like the visor release. Finally bit the bullet and bought one...within five minutes, I had worked it out ..it works perfectly. My fifth Shoei...perfect.

Great, but with flaws
15 June 2024 by Steven J
Overall a great helmet, light and with reduced noise from previous versions. Cheek pads really cup your jaw. On the flip side, it's horrendous to get your headset fitted. The clips on the cheek pad are really difficult to connect and constantly pop out when getting the helmet on and off which cause the speakers to pop out.

Lightweight helmet.
29 May 2024 by Steve W
I tend to fall between small and medium in helmet sizing but this was definitely a medium for me. I tried on the helmet in store and ordered the colour I wanted, I was concerned when the new helmet arrived because it was much, much tighter on the cheek pads but these bedded in after a few uses. I wear earplugs and if they're not pushed in fully the helmet tends to dislodge them slightly when donning it, making it seem noisy. Fitting them correctly and the hlemet is quiet. It seems a draughty helmet - almost like the vents are open which they aren't. Great for summer, winter? We'll see. Would I buy it again knowing what I know now? Yes.

Very quiet, visor can be finicky
05 May 2024 by Angelo
Good quality helmet with excellent finish. Ventilation is effective.
Only comment is that sometimes the visor needs some encouragement to lock down properly or it will whistle. I'm sure some silicone lube would solve it though.
Would probably only pay sale price for it, £499 is a bit too much considering Arai's offerings.

Full circle
05 May 2024 by Joel E
I always liked my Shoei helmets, even though after the previous one I decided I wouldn't buy another. The plastic vent at the front, falling off on 2 consecutive models around the 2 yr mark, kinda disappointed me.
I tried a couple of HJC and bits started falling off way earlier. After my 3rd RPHA70 visor failure (amazing helmet, awful visor), I went for a new helmet, though I told myself I wouldn't buy another Shoei, I tried on an NXR2 last time I was in Leeds. Soon as it was on my head, it felt great. Got home, and wished I'd bought it... Only to find an *amazing* deal on the website (early colour scheme)
Quiet (top vents closed) and comfy. Feels light on the head when riding, very stable at speed and good visibility. My only gripe is that the visor doesn't have a good airgap position. It's either 1mm or ~45mm. @1mm my glasses fog up, at 45mm the bottom of the visor is in my eyeline and very distracting. The vents work pretty well, but increase noise quite a bit, especially when checking blind spots. Would be easy 5stars with better visor mounting.
Came delivered by DPD, a day earlier than expected, nice. SBS Box had cleared been wanged in transit, one corner/edge badly stoved in, and small damage transferred to the Shoei box, thought I might send it back but on closer inspection I felt the inner box and extra packing by SBS had done it's job and protected the helmet.
