Laminated waterproofing is taking over the world. Our video runs through our top options
The Nivala 2.0 jacket receives high praise from customers for its exceptional comfort, tailored fit, and robust protection. Many are impressed with the jacket's warmth and waterproofing, reinforced by the effective D30 armor. Despite its high cost, buyers emphasize it's a worthy investment for all-season use. Complaints focus on the high collar and occasional stiffness but are generally overshadowed by the overall satisfaction with quality and performance, particularly in severe weather. Enhanced by a six-year warranty, it's a reliable choice for serious riders.
Just dry dry dry!!!! Never had a jacket that never lets in the water on a bike! tested it to its limits on a wet trip to Ireland totally dry in really foul weather ? Brilliant no sweating either & very comfortable too?
Super warm with the liner in and definitely dry, liner I think is a bit too warm for the mild days, however easy to remove if too much.
The Sizing is a little off due to the liner so I would advise definitely trying out a few different sizes with the down jacket inside it can become very tight, .
Overall the quality of these are excellent and in comparison to the price tag I believe these are a great investment as with the right care they will out last any cheaper product
Rukka brand has a great rep and people do tend to continue wearing them way beyond the 6 year mark.
The after care instructions are good and plenty of information in regards to cleaning and proofing.
Excellent advice and service from Sue (at the MK depot)
Wow compared to my 7 year old rukka suit this is a massive step up light and comfortable from the off best suit I have got.
After several years of Rukka, I decided to upgrade my current Rukka suit! The stretch material is extremely comfortable and the upgraded D3O is noticeable over my old suit. Expensive, yes, the internal jacket and Goretex Pro keep you warm and 100% dry
Had the original Nivala which I preferred. For me, the vent around the biceps creates an uncomfort because it's too tight, the previous Nivala didn't have this venting at the upper arm, because it's a waterproof zip, it's too stiff when closed. So if you have large arms, it creates an issue. I guess not everyone will have this problem. The rest is 5 star though.
I'm an all year long biker with a 50 mile round trip, split 50% motorway and 50% central London traffic. I cannot fault this jacket in anyway! Yes it costs all the money in the world, that much should be obvious but I will echo what others have said and that is that I wish I'd bought it years ago. Bought in late November, and between this and the inner "destination" jacket it keeps me warm in 0-2 degree temperatures on the motorway for about an hour. The jacket was overly firm and rigid to begin with but is becoming even better as I continue to break it in. If you can, you should!
Jacket feels quality and looks great. I wanted a jacket without the big pouch front pockets and a cleaner cut to the look, this ticks the boxes for me.
I would definitely recommend trying on for the correct fitment as all the other jackets I have and tried on are a Euro 52, the stretch fabrics built in are really good and make the suit feel comfortable to move in, I ended up going a size down Euro 50, which fits superb.
All weathers! All disciplines of riding!
Beautifully constructed! Feel fabulously protected and secure!
Came to purchase a cheaper alternative, but once I tried this on there was going back despite the extra cost. The fit is superb, the quality and feel of the fabric just stands out. I was worried it might be a bit heavy and hot but actually the venting is superb. Would recommend it. And whilst expensive I think it is worth it given its performance.
I commute around 75 miles or so a day with the occasional long trip throughout the seasons so this jacket was a no brainer for comfort and waterproofing. I have yet to test this jacket in properly harsh conditions but so far so good.
I bought the Klim Badlands A3 and while it felt like I was wearing a suit of armour, it made riding feel quite rigid and seemed to be such a chore to put on and take off. Long story short that went back for a warranty issue and I was given the option of a refund, which I took and bought the Nivala 2.0.
I have no regrets! Everything is good, the fit feels and looks tailored, the new down x jacket that comes with it is really nice and feels a tad bit longer than the old one, which is better for wearing standalone off the bike as the old one came up short.
The D30 armour in this is massive in terms of coverage compared to other jackets I've worn so I have no doubt they would stand up to scrutiny in a slide, that being said you barely feel the armour when it's on, not sure how rukka have achieved this maybe witchcraft. I thought I would have to remove the chest armour to use with a back pack but honestly I don't feel that when it's on either.
In terms of the features it has enough room to stash essentials between the 2 front pockets and internal chest pocket. There is also a lumber pocket too which I can only imagine is for stashing documents or drugs or something it's roomy though and you could probably fit a thin layer in there.
I haven't had chance or need to use the storm collar yet but the normal collar seems to seal out most of the weather anyway.
I was between 42inch and 44 inch and decided to size up so I can get a heated jacket in there for the depths of winter. I think I would have been happy either way given the stretch fabric.
The cuffs are one of my favourite features and create a nice seal against the gloves and the most faff free solution I've seen.
I get this is an expensive jacket but if you're riding all year round and look at it on a cost per use basis it really is a no brainer. Buy cheap buy twice. I'm hoping this jacket will last out beyond its warranty.
It goes without saying SportsBikeShop once again set the standard in customer service when sorting out the return of my Klim and the prompt shipping of this jacket.
So far I haven't worn the jacket in wet weather or very cold weather.
The jacket is very comfortable, the stretch material help make the jacket very comfortable to wear. with or without the down inner jacket.
If it as good as my previous Rukka jacket I will be able to wear the jacket in any weather and be sure I wont get wet.
The jacket is stylish without being over the top.
Although expensive the quality of this kit is outstanding.
Fully waterproof, extremely comfortable and over the 6 year warranty period, extremely good value for money.
As ever staff at the Bristol store were brilliant.
SBS your staff are a credit!,
Thank you.
This jacket stretches a lot which allows for far better comfort that the Rukka Kalavasi I have. Excellent quality and rain just beads off the soft outsell membrane without residue. You will need a thin heated vest if you ride in sub 5c temps as some cold does get though but overall it's excellent. This 2.0 version is far more comfortable than the previous versions of the Nivala and Kalavasi.
I am 5'9" 43" chest, 31" leg and 36" waist. I went for 54 in jacket and 54 short trousers. I have only worn with the down inners and for a four hours between 1 and 5 C I was warm with just EDZ long johns and shirt under. putting the suit feels a bit stiff from new. Once on the bike its fine. Zips don't catch on linings and feel like they will last.
Had the Nivala 1 for almost a couple of years however had on going problem with the left cuff letting in wind and rain.
Jacket was sent back twice for inspection but fault couldn't be traced.
Sportsbikeshop.co.uk decided to replace it with the new Nivala 2, outstanding customer service.
The Nivala is a brilliant comfortable and hopefully now totally waterproof. Expensive yes but 6 yrs warranty and should last for years.
5 *** for Sportsbikeshop.co.uk
Great jacket recommended by Birmingham sales assistant, so glad I took their advice, comfortable rain or shine, like the thermal layer works well, did have a leak on left arm at the elbow, SBS were fantastic, sent a loan jacket and sent mine back to Rukka for repair (3wks), on return no leak's observed in heavy downpour - love this jacket & trousers
Great service from Sportsbikeshop, as always, good advice. It's an expensive jacket but as a blood bike rider I'm out in all weather's so it's an investment in comfort and safety.
Think they have missed nothing with this jacket, hidden chin / mouth cover was a nice surprise...
