Shoei GT Air 3 - Discipline TC2

This is my second Shoei helmet. I was pleased with the quality of the first one so my obvious choice recently was to buy another. The BY Air 3 entirely meets my needs for touring. I especially like the inbuilt sun visor and safety chin strap clasp, the overall quality and glossy finish is great. The helmet is light also. I also bought the specially designed intercom for the Air 3 which was easy to attach and connect to my mobile phone and Garmin, so I am happy all round.

What's there to say , I like Shoei lids , fit me well and this GTAir 3 moves the game on , vents are good internal visor works well in sunlight , it's not too heavy , yet to test the pinlock but not had an issue on other lids I've owned

I would have bought the wrong style of helmet if it wasn't for the guy that served me.
I quite fancied another Shoei but when advised that it would suit my style of bike - Multistrada RS he recommended the GT Air 3. Great knowledge shown!

Love the helmet. So much quieter than the Ruroc.

Before the review I would like to say sports bike shop gets a 5 star as their service is second to none. The helmet on the plus side fits really nice. On the bad side is the new design of center catch for the visor. It's really difficult to operate one handed. After numerous attempts to adjust the fitting have given up and can only close it by pressing down at the top of visor. Also, wind noise is still not good. The main complaint is I purchased a Sena SRL 3 communication system that is supposed to be integrated for the helmet. With such a costly helmet and communication system you would expect it to work. First unit could not recognize voice commands, sent it back and second unit arrived within the week. Still voice recognition not working. Also cannot update the firmware.nothing works as it should. So handsfree system it is not. It is a known fault. I would expect that the designers of a system that is supposed to work on the helmet that was obviously designed for this they would have tried and tested it before launch, but obviously not. In conclusion would I purchase this again? No I would purchase another helmet that I could fit and use a different communication system that works.

This helmet is a great fit, and is of the quality you would expect from Shoei. You are never going to get a helmet that is completely quiet but this comes pretty close.

Having been a fan of flip-front helmets I decided to switch to this GT Air 3 because I noticed how flip-front lids can feel heavy at the front, particularly when carrying out shoulder checks at high speeds. I’ve always been a fan of Shoei but the GT Air 3 is yet another leap forward in terms of comfort and security which impresses me so much that I’d confidently say it’s the best helmet I’ve ever tried or bought and cannot see me going back to a flip-front. The fit is extremely comfortable and secure without ever feeling tight and with no pressure points and the quality of finish is exceptional. I use it with the Sena integrated comms which are easy to use and are very discreet. The venting is effective and quieter than I’ve experienced before, especially with the top vent closed, and the two visors work very well. Shoei makes a big deal out of the fact that they have moved the visor lift tab to the centre; I can’t say it is any better than when it was to one side but I guess that is personal preference. One of the big advantages claimed for flip-front lids is that you don’t need to remove them at customs border checks, but having just been through UK and Spanish customs twice in the GT Air 3 and not had to remove it once, I am even more delighted I chose this lid.

Shoei is a premium brand for a reason, I've tried most brands over the years but this is the first I have ever had the inclination to return to. In the past I had a GT Air 2 and it was faultless, then I went to an inferior brand which I sold online to get my hands on this. It s more than a helmet, it s a work of art.


Quiet, (still wear plugs) and very very comfortable. Honestly, it s the only brand I recommend

Since I started to be able to afford quality helmets, I have always chosen Shoei - over 30 years now. This latest in the "Air" series of helmets does not disapoint. Fits very well as expected and a nice touch is the centre locking for the visor. My insurer gave me a discount code for a 10% reduction in price from SPORTSBIKESHOP, an oitfit I have used before. Helmet arrived on time, was a good price, was well packaged - everything you might expect from a seamless transaction over the web. I could not be more pleased!

I originally ordered the Schubert S3 in a large which arrived and was too small, so I sent it back and swapped it for the extra large which was too big.
I opted to try the shoei Gt air3 In a large and it fitted like a glove.
At the time the realm TC 10 was on offer so I got a helmet with graphics for nearly the same price as plain white,
I have found the helmet to be very quiet, comfortable and well ventilated. The drop-down sunvisor is really good, Easy to use and really clear.
I haven't used a micrometric buckle before, I find it really easy and works well. No more faffing with d rings.
Also fitted the centre comms unit which is nice and sleek.

Really good experience with Sportsbikeshop. Needed a new lid and spent some time with Sue (MK) to get the right fit. For me that was the GT Air 3. It's very comfortable, light, stable and quiet. You know your getting quality with this lid. The fitting service to make sure it was just right was excellent. Recommended.
