Reviews Shoei's popular sports-touring helmet series comes bang up to date with the GT-Air 3

Customers generally praised the Shoei helmet's quality, comfort, and fit, although some faced issues with chin straps and visor mechanisms. Reviewers frequently noted the excellent finish and effective sun visor. However, a few customers experienced discomfort with accessories like communication systems and faced challenges with ventilation or noise. Many appreciated the helmet's premium feel, despite its higher price. Customers also highlighted the helmet as a superior choice with quick-release features and attractive design elements. Overall, the helmet received strong endorsements for performance and craftsmanship.
Apart from the quality and comfort of this helmet, I can't praise Sue and her staff enough for their patience and time spent trying on multiple helmets at the Milton Keynes branch.
Service from the beginning, ordering multiple items to try on, till the end including post sale support is consistent and phenomenal. Sportsbikeshop is my first port of call for motorcycle equipment!
This is a great helmet and sportsbikeshop were instrumental in ensuring I got the right size and fit. This is not a cheap item and a helmet is probably the most important thing you ll ever buy for your motorcycle. It s seriously not worth trying to save money ordering things online that might not fit or suit you. It is far better to go to a proper bike shop and get it fitted properly.
From my perspective this is identical to the original GT Air other than a slightly wider outline around the ears - I believe this accommodates a comms system, though I do not use one.
A shame that there is no option to pick custom sized cheek pads (ordered separately at additional cost). Also found a bit of a faff fitting the chin curtain and breath deflector - would have been ideal if these came fitted.
Delivery was good and fast. Happy overall, great product.
Bought this in the sale at really good price matched price! Already had a gt air 2 but fancied a new one with more colour. Extremely comfortable, excellent vision, no fog up on visor and very quiet. Really good, well made comfortable helmet.
Purchased this helmet when the Black Friday deals were on and ordered the large size according to my head measurement. After trying it on with ear plugs and balaclava I thought it seemed a tad too big. Popped into thd Leeds branch of sbs and they booked me in for a fitting. Ordered the helmet in a size M just incase. As it turned out the medium was a better fit and the young lady with the long brown hair (sorry can't remember your name) was very helpful with how it should fit properly.
5* service
Perfect top notch as normal with Shoei helmets
Personal fitting was done in the store.
Bought as a long overdue upgrade to the GT Air 1. Very impressed so far.
Slightly larger than my last helmet of the same size. However really comfortable and got a good deal on it.
This is the third iteration of the GT Air: I've used all of them and this is the best yet. Better fit for me than the previous model, better ventilation & great graphics. The only downside is the price - I got mine on offer from Sportsbikeshop as an early Xmas present.
Purchased this helmet on a spur of the moment buy really pleased I did as a great helmet very quiet, Fitts great , looks amazing would highly recommend to anybody who does proper mileage on their bike
Originally I went to Sportsbikeshop to buy a much cheaper helmet. But after trying on the whole shop's stock back catalogue, I realised you really do get what you pay for!
I also opted for the fitting service to make it mould to my freaky shaped swede. This helmet now feels like it was built just for me.. which in essence, it literally was.
With a built in sun visor and quick release strap as standard, and the dark smoke visor and integrated Sena mesh intercom added on top.. there really is not much more you can ask for in a helmet.
Wearing it for a full 7-8hrs is a total problem free experience with no pressure points or sore spots making themselves known. The noise levels are also rather bearable and earplugs are not even remotely required.
I had the GT-Air 2, loved it and so replaced it with the 3. So far, it’s great, but does seem expensive by comparison. The helmet is great though, my only gripe so far is that the built in compartments for the Shoei ComLink does get in the way of installing other comms headsets a bit.
The same but with improvements and tweaks on the GT Air 2. That’s a good enough recommendation for me
Good points... Usual Shoei comfort, fits well, visor mechanism is good, lining is soft, sun visor mechanism works well and feels solid, reasonably quiet, great finish and design on the helmet, looks stunning.
Bad point... The sun visor seems to mist a little too easily in cold air. It's ok when moving but when you stop it's better if you lift the sun visor until you're on the move again.
Absolutely best helmet ive ever brought. Perfect fit, so comfy wouldnt even know I got it on. Bought the intercom system for it too. Just perfect, thanks also to the great staff at sportsbikeshop Birmingham, great service
The visibility through and function of the visor is excellent. I was surprised how good it is. Comfort felt stiff at first, but became formed and super comfortable within 5 minutes.
This fit and the quality construction makes this helmet unbelievably quiet. Really astonishing.
Design is smart, the weight belies its feel.
Air movement is like nothing I’ve experienced prior to this. Opening up chin and top vent ensures amazing cooling/humidity control. Breath guard is very effective.
Having previously used an X-lite 903, which was very comfortable, I was looking for a new helmet due to issues with visor function, and general wear in the cushioning.
Can’t recommend it enough. The quality design speaks in its utility.
The pictures of this helmet do not do the colours justice, really god looking helmet, very comfetable
Find it cheaper at any major motorcycle accessory retailer, online or in-store and we‘ll match it.
