Arai's legendary crossover lid is still going string after a decade of service
Customers generally have high praise for the Arai Tour X4 helmet, appreciating its build quality, comfort, and superb ventilation. Some note that it is slightly heavier than other models but still manageable. The helmet is particularly praised for its wide visor providing excellent visibility and minimal buffeting from the peak. However, a few users mentioned discomfort with ear pressure and found visor changes cumbersome. Despite minor gripes, the consensus is that the helmet is worth its price for its safety and overall performance.
Great breadth of vision, looks beautiful, inside pads are a little scratchy for the price
Can’t go wrong with an Arai and this model is well designed, comfortable to wear on long rides and the sun visor provides good shade.
Tried many prime brands. Arai is still the best in its category
This is the 2nd Tour X4 I bought from SBS (1st one I had for 5 years) and the quality and fit is just great. I use it almost daily to commute and for off road. No integrated sun visor but very comfortable with sun glasses.
Bought this helmet expecting it to be my best so far, sadly totally disappointed, it's a cold helmet, and not as quite as my cheap HJC, plus no matter what I try the visor fogs up almost instantly.
Regret the purchase now
My first Arai in some time and it's straight back to the quality fit & feel that is so hard to describe. I had reservations about the peak but it was not intrusive and perfect for riding into low sun. Great helmet.
Easy online purchase and delivery the day after !
Very pleased nice comfy fit
What can I say? I've had a number of different branded helmets including most recently a Shoei GT Air2 which was excellent. This Arai goes beyond even that. The helmet is beautifully crafted, fits just superbly straight out of the box and the airflow is fantastic. With all inlets switchable the air is totally controllable too. As far as the depart red metallic paint job, we'll that is simply gorgeous too. As you might have guessed I am highly delighted and at £400 what a bargain for such a superb helmet. As always speed of delivery and the packaging from SBS was excellent too.
What a piece of kit!
Fit finish and quality of this helmet is fantastic I didn't want to go all in and spend 600 quid on a lid but when I saw it on sale I gave in and I'm not disappointed. The paint job is awesome too.
It fits my roundish head fantastic with contact all round I originally wanted the airoh commander but the shape is too long and rolls back and fourth on my head.
Only issue I had is there's no pinlock in the box so I forked out another 60 odd quid on a photochromatic one but I think the standard clear one wouldn't be a big ask when it goes for about 30 pounds!
My helmet history goes, Centurian, Shoei, Shoei, Bell, Arai, X-lite and now this Arai. I wanted a helmet with a peak to shade the sun, as I was often having trouble seeing anything in hedge lined single tracks at the end of the day. I visited SBS in Bristol to try on a few makes, but they didn't have the X4. Sure the Klim was nice and the Scorpion fitted well, but neither felt just just right for me. Then I tried a peakless Arai and that felt just perfect. The next day they had the Metallic Gun X4 on sale on the website and I jumped at it. The peak works as I had wanted, the ventilation is another plus for me and the finish is lovely. I don't notice any extra noise or the slight increase in weight over my previous X-lite. Yes, at 60mph the peak does grab the air a bit and the D ring is a little close to the padding, but it fits like a glove on my 61cm head and I'm very happy I chose it.
Excellent fast service, thanks. Arai helmet is the usual high quality.
I've had quite a few things off SportsBikeShop in recent years and their service is always the same: you order; it turns up sooner than you expected; it's well packaged.
As for the Arai? I've been buying helmets for the past 44 years; many different makes and types; the TourX is simply the best. This will be my third, the first in 2006. My last two helmets were good makes and much cheaper, but when the going gets tough the TourX beats them for comfort over long distances and performance in difficult weather. I found myself having to wear one of my old TourX to get me through a recent roadbook rally where the weather was awful and knew my next helmet had to be another TourX. I ordered the same size as in 2006; fits perfect.
This helmet fits perfectly. Superb at high speed. Great value now.
This really is a lovely lid. Snug fit. Lovely finish. Looks great. Certainly no goldfish bowl. This is 3rd lid in current collection and I hoped it would be super well venting for off road enduro as getting hot in my others. Now thinking I'm gonna add a forth, didn't really want an open face MX helmet as like a visor but felt this was my best dual sport option. It'll be good for winter at least but doesn't feel like it's gonna keep me as cool as I'd have liked. The mouth/chin area is closer than in other dedicated road lids I have and the vents there are letting in less air than other lids I have. Hopefully the exhaust vents will work some magic when it does get hot but on first ride I'm not noticing much. It's a 5 star helmet but gave 4 because not doing as I'd hoped or some reviews had suggested on the venting front at off road speeds. Kept it coz SBS are awesome and it's a nice lid for the collection and hopefully my intended purpose… for winter at least, fingers crossed ;)
Just to say you really really cant beat arai in my honest opinion, fantastic quality helmet, superb fit as soon as you put it on. Fantastic peripheral vision, visor is super smooth, no issue with buffering from the peak, and a great price from sportsbikeshop once again, couldn't be happier with my purchase A++++++
Great helmet with a proven record. The staff were brilliant swapping out cheek pads to fit with no extra charge. My only gripe, bought a Matt black model and it scratches really easily so will look scruffy very quickly...
Arai’s Tour X4 is the latest version of the incredibly popular adventure helmet, with a redesigned shell shape and ad...
Apart from the colour scheme these helmets are identical.
It weighs 1.625 Kg
The Tour X4 visor is able to be fully raised with the peak in situ.
