Richa D3O Viper 2.0 Air CE Level 2 Protector - Back

9/10ths of the original L2 D3O back protector. Much lighter and more ventilated than the original, but the lighter foam used combined with the more angular design makes it a tad less comfortable than the regular one. Doesn't mould quite as well when warmed up, either, but once you're riding for a bit you'll forget about it.

Weight savings will be worth it alone for some!

So much better than the level 1 that came with the jacket, not bulky, light weight and fits perfectly on my Atlantic 2 jacket.

Great upgrade from my level 1, worth the price for the extra protection and peace of mind.

The D3O Viper armour is better than I expected. It’s lighter, thinner, flexible than the traditional Level 2 back protector I was using and it should flow more air too.
I’ve upgraded the shoulder armour too and my jacket is lighter and more comfortable as a result. The only issue is that you have to believe that this lighter armour is actually Level 2 as the comparison with more traditional armour is like chalk and cheese.

This moulded to my shape and feels very light weight compared to my old back armour. Great protection at a great price what's not to like. Brucey bonus is it fits both my jackets.

I use this in my RST S-1 textile jacket. Sportsbikeshop were fantastic as they always are in helping identify one that would work. I wanted to use this over the RST option as I’ve had D30 armour before and I know it works well. Really thin and flexible but still strong. Not tested it in anger and hope I never do, but it’s very comfortable and doesn’t make your back particularly sweaty on hot days (in the UK at least!). Perfect service from Sportsbikeshop.

I swapped out a standard protector and tried 3 or 4 different options before landing on this. It's flexibility is fantastic and doesn't feel like it's there when wearing my jacket.

Quality level 2 back protector which is only 18mm thick. Very pliable and comfortable within my Rebelhorn leather jacket. This is the “air” version, so should offer decent ventilation in the warmer months. Was a bargain in the sale.

Fitted perfectly into my Richa Phantom 3 jacket. Must more substantial,than Level 1, without being bulky or cumbersome.

Picked up for my Dainese Hekla jacket. Fits perfectly. Reassuring to have L2 protection.

I want to start by saying there’s nothing wrong with the protector itself. When I first received it, I thought, “Blimey, this is thick.” It was also pretty stiff at first, but it quickly softened and began to conform to my back.

You can definitely feel that it’s there, but it’s not as noticeable as some other level 2 back protectors.

As for sizing, I bought this for my Richa Forest Shirt in size small, following the size guide, which also recommended a small protector. However, when I inserted it, I found there was quite a bit of extra space. After measuring the back pocket, I realized it actually fits a size large protector instead.

Just a heads-up to avoid any hassle with refunds or exchanges if you’re considering it.

Bought this for an RST Heavy Duty Aramid shirt that came without back protection. On paper its 1 CM bigger all around but side by side they're almost identical and it fits perfectly. It allows far more movement over the RST version, is thinner, and also allows far more airflow. A no brainer.

Bought this for my Furygan Ghost Evo jacket because hardly any jackets come with armour these days, alway use D3O armour and this is the next step in the evolution.

This is the same size and spec as the Furygan armour, but it was quite a bit cheaper, so it was the obvious choice.


Highly recommended, even if it's just to upgrade your level 1 armour to level 2, this is for you.
