Daytona Road Star GTX Boots - Black
Customer Product Reviews
I have only worn them 5 times, the quality is excellent, the fit spot on. What was really important to me was the comfort, especially when off the bike walking, these are brilliant, no uncomfortable spots or pinches. Not worn in the wet yet so can't comment there!
Waterproof, protective slippers
I bought my first pair of Roadstars four years ago, they have been used and abused for an average of 14 hours a day, 6 days a week. I have crashed in the boots twice (most recently at 60 mph when a car pulled out from a side road without looking). My feet have never been wet, sweaty or injured in these boots, hence ordering this second pair while my originals are being re-soled. The best, most comfortable and protective boots I have owned in 23 years of riding.
Good as they get
Can't rate them too highly. Look good, feel good, had them on for ten hour sessions biking and walking about. Very happy with them. Might mention this is a good firm to buy from, wrong size, changed, no problems only solutions. If other firms behaved like this firm.... wow, would be great. Great boots, great service. Little more I can say really?
After purchase the first wearing was on an Iron Butt Run of 1050 miles in 24hrs with the remnants of hurricane Oscar for company. 24hrs of almost constant rain. NO PROBLEM! Warm, dry and comfortable throughout. Expensive but money very well spent.
This is my second pair of Daytona boots. They're exceptionally comfortable and need no wearing in whatsoever. I found these boots to be extremely light with good foot support, great for walking as well as riding. They're quick and easy to get on and off, the two zips work well. Nice calf adjustments for comfort too. I've already worn these for a whole day in torrential rain and as I expected were 100% waterproof. These boots are well worth the money. I can't fault them!
Plush and comfortable
Needed a new pair of touring boots when my old Halvarssons pair give up the ghost after around 4 years of use and decided to splash out on the Daytona Road Stars. Main reasons being the well known quality and the ability to have them repaired if the boots begin to fail in any way. Only had them on a couple of times and not in the rain as yet although I have no concerns with the Goretex liner. Whilst I couldn't really fault the old boots, these Daytona's are a step up in the all day comfort stakes with the plush inner liner and all day comfort when walking around off the bike. The double opening also helps with getting them on once you get used to it. I'm hoping the extra investment in these will pay off in longevity with the repair service on offer and the build quality. Expensive but hopefully worth it in the long run.
I decided to change brand to Daytona and spend big on boots because my previous pairs wore out so quickly after commuting all year round. They are very comfortable (be warned, they stretch quite a bit. I am usually a 44 and went with 44 to begin with, but over a year they are now too big, should have gotten a 43). They are a little on the chunky side in terms of changing gears and feeling the lever however you do get use to it. They are completely waterproof and have never leaked. However, my biggest issue is the zips. After 1 year of owning these boots I've had to send them off for repairs on the zips twice. Each time costs £80 if you are to pay for it yourself. I treat the zips and boots in all the recommended 'official' Daytona products (about £35 in products alone) and yet after 1 year they have failed me already. For £365 I'm not that impressed at all really. I bought these to last me at least 5 years but it turns out they lasted a year.
The best boots I ever bought
The boots arrived right on time. Unlike many other boots I have purchased over a long time - they fitted perfectly straight out of the box - naturally they were slightly stiff at first, but after wearing them during a full weekends riding- they are now moulded perfectly to my feet - and are the easiest m/cycle boots to put on & take off. Well done Daytona.
These boots replace some old Datona boots I have had for many years. Eventually the gear change pad disintegrated and the lining fell apart. Not unexpected considering they were 20 years old. So first choice was these direct replacements same style but with Gortex. They felt a bit stiff to start with but soon loosened up. So far so good, not had them wet yet but I am sure the British weather will soon test the waterproof properties.. the zip is stiff but I'm very pleased so far, thanks.
This is my third pair and they are excellent. Only two slight quibbles. 1 - there is a flap at the top of the boot to cover the zipper - it gets in the way when opening and closing the zip. 2- It feels like the heel is raised, but this could be because my old ones were so worn down after 8 years of use.
I ride almost every day of the year and in all weather. I was fed up of buying boots around the £200 mark and the waterproofing failing within a year. So I have invested in these. Very supple and comfortable out of the box, and the dual zip is a nice feature to get a snug fit once done up but still making the boot easy to put on. Everything about them feels quality made. Easily the best boots I've ever owned so far...Let's hope they stand the test of time!
Brilliant boots with one flaw
These boots are extremely comfortable, 100% waterproof and very well made. However in my experience they have one flaw - the main zip. I have just bought my second pair. The first pair performed well until the main zip on the left boot failed after 2 years. This was returned to Daytona for repair. It took approx 3 weeks and cost £75. The zip on the other boot failed 8 months later. Being without boots for a period is inconvenient. hence having to buy a second pair.
The golden standard
Pros: Comfortable straight out of the box, on and off the bike. Easiest and quickest boots I've ever had to put on and take off. Best quality leather, zips and lining. Solid German construction, High level of protection in a spill. Sensitive feel on foot controls. Cons: Haven't found any yet.
