Customer Reviews for Oxford Heated Premium Hot Grips - Sports
Good Grips....but
The grips work fine, and the heat output is good. However, when installing I found the cable connectors were flimsy to say the least. As I joined the connectors some of the wires pushed out of the bottom of the female socket and the connector locking mechanism was not secure, they easily separate and as these are under the fuel tank I ended up binding the whole wiring length with tape to ensure it stayed connected and to make sure it was robust enough. In addition to which I fitted a relay to control the positive trigger to guarantee the supply is cut when the ignition is switched off (maybe for my peace of mind more than anything else). The bike is a 2013 Triumph Bonneville SE. Very good grips, but can be improved.

I've so far had the wires come out of of two of the connectors, so I've had to repair those and use a dab of glue to keep them together (I'll find a better solution long term) - I don't seem to be alone with this issue. Other than that it looks like a good bit of kits and has worked well, certainly warm enough for frosty mornings.

Good quality but cables between grips and connections very long for a sport bike which ends up looking a bit untidy - would be better if a sleeve provided (I ended up putting the excess into a cycle tube rather than muck about with cutting and reconnecting etc). The other thing is that if you don't get the grips on quick before the glue starts to bind then you can't get the grip all the way on! Glue sets too fast!

I have used these on a previous bike, they were fantastic, on the hottest setting, they were very hot! So I decided to get another pair for my new bike. These won't keep the back of your hands warm on a naked bike, so you still need a decent pair of gloves that retain the heat and protect against the wind.

Do these grips drain battery? I bought these before and it did kill my battery although I'm not sure if those grips were faulty as they never actually got warm enough when you turned them on. I was told to return them for a refund as there might have been a fault with the heat controller.
October 29, 2018The grips should not drain the battery when the engine is running, unless there is a fault with your motorcycle's charging system. If the grips are left on when the ignition is turned off, the controller will sense a drop in the bikes battery voltage, and turn the grips off.
