Hi, in addition to CANBUS (BMW/Triumph) connection, does it have a connector for battery to screw in case I don't want to use CANBUS (BMW/Triumph)? The universal way of crewing to the battery (live + neutral) and plug for charger on other end? I don't want to use CANBUS (BMW/Triumph). Thanks.

I know it's alot of money, but it is going to do a good job looking after your battery. I have used loads over the years, But i would say this will be the best. Easy to set up, for both types of batteries, Lots of connetion options, I bought this because I could plug into my GS DIN socket.
Had it 2 weeks now and all good.

Managed to grab this at a great price from Sportsbikeshop. It s a newer version and features the canbus fitting I needed which makes it quick and simple to use on my BMW. If you buy a bike mid winter like I did, it s ideal to keep your battery topped up for when you don t get the chance to get out and ride.

I have a BMW F900R so this simply plugs into the DIN socket on the bike. Just switch on, make sure you've got the right program for your battery, then plug in. Your program selection remains as the default setting until you change it. Has a handy hook so you can hang the unit over the handlebar for easy reference.

First of all the instructions are very complicated, I had to read them a few times to figure them out. I got this charger for my Tiger 1200 so I could charge it through the accessory socket without having to take the seat off. First time I used it I got a red "fault" light, which according to the instructions is because there's a fault with the bike's wiring (it recommends removing the battery and charging directly), there's nothing wrong with it, the bike's only a few months old. I switched it off and back on again and since then it's been ok. Time will tell if it has any more issues!

Sportsbikeshop had this in stock where others had to wait for manufacturer delivery first.
As usual, super fast delivery. I needed to use the charger as soon as I got it and after reading the simple set up instructions of the different programs available, my new BMW was on charge via the Din socket.
After reading some stories online regarding problems charging via the Din socket, I've kept an eye on mine for the last week and all is fine.
When on charge and in maitinance mode, do expect the yellow and green lights to be on together (it's normal).
Also expect the yellow and then green light to be on by themselves during the maintenance stage, after many checks on my part, that too is normal.
It's a tool you can trust from a supplier you can trust.

Aside from the usual impressive delivery time from Sportsbikeshop I ought to be saying things like it's easy to use and a great quality product but as you can probably tell from the date this was posted, it is nearly Xmas so I have to admit that Santa has it atm so it can't be used for a few days. Other than that, it was a very good price and I hope to be delighted and "surprised" come Xmas day morning.

Bought to replace my old optimate 4 which after over 15 years of faithful service has gone to the great shed in the sky. The old one charged and maintained many batteries on my bikes, my wife bikes and friends bikes. It recovered batteries that everyone thought were beyond saving. Yes you can buy cheaper but in my experience they prove to be false economy. In the time I had the old one I also had 2 oxford and a couple of generic chargers none of which lasted more than a couple of years.
If this lasts only a third of the time of my old one it will still be a bargain.

This is an easy to use piece of kit. I have a tiny gripe, though - I bought it because the advert used words like "CANBUS" and "Triumph", BUT it turned out that I can't use the CANBUS option via the DIN socket on my '23 PLATE Triumph Tiger, so it lost a star there (although it should probably be Triumph that loses the star, tbh). However, 5 mins later and it was hooked up to my battery (with the connector safely tucked under my seat should I need it again) merrily charging away. I left it hooked up all weekend just to be sure, but it had rescued my battery overnight. Considering pretty much all bike kit is expensive these days, it wasn't a bad price, and the next day delivery meant that my flat battery on Thursday was up and fixed for Saturday morning! Huzzah!

I bought this for my BMW bikes because at the time SBS had discounted the unit considerably.
As I’ve a Lithium battery on one of the bikes it was essential I had a quality charger. The techmate is simple to use and came with the correct DIN plug adapter. Works a treat, highly recommend you buy one.
