I now have three Optimate products, one is over fifteen years old and still works perfectly. I just traded in a bike that had a Li-On battery and the new bike battery (AGM type) was not compatible with my #2 Optimate so just bought another standard AGM type battery charger in the sale. Easy to fit and is now looking after the battery of the new bike. Much cheaper than a replacement battery in spring if an Optimate is not used. Note - other models do multiple types of battery if you don't already have one but you have more than one bike.
Fitting the wiring tail to the battery, straightforward - 5/10 minutes. Thereafter, connecting to maintain charge is just plug in and turn on - easy and quick.
Just make sure that you're within reach of a power socket.

I recently purchased a new motorcycle and read about battery degradation in the winter. Sure enough, when I checked my battery it was losing power just sitting there. The optimate 3 is a perfect solution. If you choose to connect the supplied adapter as a permanent fixture to your battery, it make daily reconnection so much easier than using the crocodile clips also supplied. The adapter can also be used with other accessories such as sat nav or USB connections.
I ordered the optimate after I had bad experience with another brand and I'm pleased I did. It works a treat!

December 10, 2019The only significant difference between the Optimate 3 and 4 devices is the fact that with the OptiMate 4's Dual Program, you can now either charge the battery direct, or select the program to charge via the 12V port on CAN-bus equipped motorcycles (using an optional DIN plug lead).

March 25, 2018The SAE connector supplied with the Optimate is very similar to the one used by Harley Davidson, But we would recommend checking with your nearest Harley dealer before purchase.
