I know many will already know that the locking mechanism is NOT part of the top box, but I did not and I didn't think it was that clear in the item description "featuring the MONOKEY® system" meaning it can take the monokey system but does not provide it and you must purchase so not really "featuring" more "accommodating"!??.
In the bullet points you will read: "Requires additional purchase of smart lock" so there is that, but I unfortunately missed this bit.
Also you need the right mounting plate for your bike. I think the description should also make a point of highlighting this. I'm a bit new to this stuff, not because I'm not an experienced biker, but because I haven't accessorised any ADV bike in the past and don't know these simpleton facts.
Anyway its not a reflection on the product which seems well built, at least on the outside, as I am still awaiting the lock and mounting plate, so I will comment further once fitted and used properly.

Great size, helmet fits great and not too big on the back of the bike. With the plate fits well on the back of the GSA. Easy to fit and still carries 10kg if needed.

Great top box but terrible service by sportsbikesh

The top box itself is great, really sturdy and looks the part on an adventure bike.
These aren’t supposed to come with a lock, but this one did so it was either a return or ex display (you would think for the money you’d at least get a new product), there was also no key, so after I’d put it on the bike there was no way to get it off.
Sportsbike didn’t offer much help and I was left to sort it out by myself.

The Trekker Outback Evo Smart 42 is made from aluminium and featuring the MONOKEY® system for safe, easy attachment. The Security Lock mechanism guarantees maximum security for your top case, while the corners eliminate the need for strap loops and make attachment to the tubular handles more secure.
Capable of resisting the bumps and stresses inevitable on off-road journeys, the case comfortably holds 1 modular helmet so you can be ready for any adventure. The friction rotation system for the lid and Adjustable Resistance Hinge System (ARHS), make it possible to adjust the closing speed as desired, avoiding any inconvenience while parked on slopes. Inside the case is an internal lever which allows the case to be secured to the plate, preventing its removal from the outside.
Thanks to the vast range of optional extras available, you can personalise your top case to suit your needs: from the waterproof inner bag to the flask support in nylon reinforced with fibreglass, and from the elasticated net for storing items on the underside of the lid to the internal courtesy light, all available for purchase separately.
