Advice & Guides Check inside your helmet box for a long, thin packet. In there lies clear vision on wet days. Here's what to do with it...

Customers praise the quality and effectiveness of Pinlock inserts, especially their ability to prevent visor misting. While some found the fitting process slightly tricky, the included tool with Shoei helmets eased the process. Despite concerns about the price, customers agree that these inserts are essential for safe riding in various weather conditions. They emphasize the importance of proper handling to avoid scratches and acknowledge the product's outstanding performance, comparing it to a tear-off, but more effective. Overall, an indispensable addition to their helmets.
Perfect fir, worth getting OEM spec parts
I couldn't imagine having to ride without a pinlock nowadays. These are exceptional. However, I do a lot of miles (around 1500-2000 a month) in all weathers, and find these just seem to need replacing avery 4-6 months. The scratch really easily on the inside but 'worse' is they just kinda stop working - fogging up regularly. Putting a new one in solves it right away and it's back to being amazing, but at the price, they should last longer than 8000 miles imo.
Perfect OEM quality visor.
No problems with fitting works perfectly
With daily use, these Pinlock inserts gradually lose there anti-fog performance over time and replacing them regularly is important for me.
After researching suppliers locally and on-line, I found that Sportsbikeshop have the most competitive prices and by quite a margin.
Add in the free postage (for buying more than one item) and was really impressed with the value for money.
Good fit and works well
Fitted perfectly and needed no adjustment. As this is a replacement I know it works but it is important to make sure it fits correctly with no slight air gaps. Otherwise its condensation reducing capabilities will be compromised. The service at Sportsbike Shop was excellent after initially supplying the wrong visor which I replaced at the same time.
I bought this to replace the Pinlock insert supplied with my Shoei GT Air II helmet as I'd managed to scratch the original one. Pinlock will give you mist free vision for a good few hours in the heaviest of downpours. Eventually it will saturate with moisture in bad rain and water will trickle down. At that point it's time to stop at a petrol station, cafe, pub etc for a drink and to dry the insert gently with tissue paper.
I've given 4, rather than 5 stats, as installing these 100% correctly is tricky. If you can slide a £5 note between the insert and your visor, moisture will get in and you'll get a misted visor behind the pinlock insert. If that happens, you have to remove the insert and dry everything otherwise you will not be able to see where you're going. Make sure you test the seal is 100% round the whole pinlock insert. If you can slide the £5 note under the insert, adjust the pins securing the insert slightly
Good
Just thought I’d buy a spare pinlock, you never know what idiot (me) would almost ruin a brand new one. Lesson learned. Take it from me, simply clean it with mild soapy water and use a really clean no scratchy cloth. Other wise the new one is mint and Sportsbikeshop, excellent service as usual.
It's a Pinlock insert so when it's fitted correctly yes indeed it won't mist up...however I've yet to have one that didn't eventually either work loose or lift slightly allowing a misty patch to develop on the perimeter. Of course this maybe due to my ham fisted attempts to fit them. I have yet to test this one in anger in wet conditions, but the one this replaces did eventually mist as previously described. That said I'd still rather have it in place than not as it performs well more often than not. It's also a lot more convenient than remembering to apply and polish an anti fog solution every other ride.
Excellent product fitted by helpful shop
The old pinlock that came with the Shoei Neotec 3 eventually became too scratched to see through, so it was time to renew. Very easy to fit, I found it best to warm the visor with a hair dryer first to flatten it slightly, then it clipped straight in.
Crystal clear, although you have to be careful not to scratch it when cleaning the visor as its quite soft.
Quality product
How did I not know about these earlier?
They are a game changer for riding in the wet and cold. No more misty visor!
Everyone should be wearing them.
Quality at a good price
Although the product was initially out of stock, the SPORTSBIKESHOP kept us up to date all the way
Works as expected but too pricey for what it is. They also scratch far too easily and last no longer than 1.5 years.
Pinlock is the way to go! It makes all the difference to your visor
Yes, this is compatible with the Shoei GT Air and GT Air 2
The Shoei Pinlock EVO is equivalent to the Pinlock 120.
If you have a dark visor you require the clear Pinlock insert.
The yellow insert is road legal, but it is recommended for daytime use only.
The Pinlock does not have DKS on the packaging at all. It says "Pinlock Evo" for CW-1, CNS-1 and CWR-1.
The Shoei XR1100 uses a CW-1 Pinlock insert; the 'best' would depend on your personal preference and the weather conditions you require it for. i.e. for predominantly sunny weather a tinted insert would be best, but for low light weather a clear insert would be best suited.
Find it cheaper at any major motorcycle accessory retailer, online or in-store and we‘ll match it.
