Oxford Monster Disc Lock
Customer Product Reviews
Solid bit of kit and on my insurer's list of approved disk locks (though not convinced they gave me much of a reduction in premium, but that's insurance companies for you...). It's big, solid and fairly heavy - you're probably not going to want to carry this around in a pocket. One gripe is that the key needs to be fully inserted up to the hilt - a couple of times I've been unable to do this very easily, as the key has hit an obstruction on the way in and it's taken several minutes (my record is over 4 minutes) of wiggling and wrestling to persuade it to go in. I'm keeping it lubed with silicone 'oil' and hoping it improves - may have to return for a replacement (hopefully) if it doesn't.
Reassurance when parking
I bought this for my new KTM Duke, which incredibly for this day and age has no immobiliser or even Datatag fitted! Needing quick, easy to carry but substantial protection, I selected the Oxford Monster in yellow (to make it obvious to both thieves and me). It feels very solid and hence provides some reassurance that the bike may still be where I left it. Hopefully. It's very easy to use and fits under the Duke seat.
Big & Beefy
Serious bit of kit this. Feels quality and has a rubbery body to protect your bike against scuffs etc Comes with 3 keys and a rubber keyring. When unlocked the whole lock shaft is removed and placed through the brake disk then re-inserted into the lock body and secured with the key. Gives a great sense of security when the bike is out of site.
Solid and light
I was a tad worried it may have been on the heavy side to keep in my tail but it's light and compact enough and feels really solid and secure enough for piece of mind...It is on the more expensive side of disc locks but you get what you pay for I guess....quality product.
No one has stolen my bike!
So far so good, its big its yellow and its locky and anyone making it past the rottweilers, the security guard, the piranha infested moat and breaking into the garage and locating my bike with this on has so far not managed to make away with it, a good sign.
