Riding doesn’t have to mean restricting yourself to your own headspace, thanks to comms system that let you stay in touch with passengers, riding buddies and your phone…
Customers generally appreciate the sound quality and user-friendly setup, describing the product as beneficial for both group and solo rides. However, some express concerns about voice activation issues, installation complications, and the perceived bulkiness of the design. The integration with smartphones and other devices is praised, enhancing navigation, music, and communication during rides. Despite minor grievances, many agree it's a worthwhile investment, enhancing their riding experience and acknowledging the accompanying software and features as valuable assets. Overall, satisfaction tends to outweigh the negatives.
Great device, I like how easy it is to get it working, installed and pair with my phone. I can make calls, listen to spotify and get lost a bit less. Excellent.
So when all set up and working, yes good piece of kit but the negatives have left me recommending to anyone - perhaps try something else.
1. Voice activation - no instructions to tell UK users that you need to re-install the English UK pack rather than the pre-set English US. If I didn’t spend a long time emailing Cardo I would have been none the wiser
2. Install. It’s messy, I don’t like the mic and the audio connectors and how they’ve positioned them on the loom. This means you are really, really limited on how to fit the loom inside your helmet without a plug stabbing you in the head. This is a pain and I’m still not happy with it.
3. Sound, the sound is rubbish absolutely rubbish. I only brought this to make a few phone calls and listen to music and the EQ is all tinny. I turned it off after a hour into the ride. If I could actually adjust the EQ levels in the app then it might be bearable.
4. The app - made for people with roughly two brain cells. Now I’m not a grumpy ex-sena owner but I have been shown how that app works and it just does so much more in terms of settings and functionality.
Would I recommend? Nope. Don’t bother with any of the Cardo line up. Nearly brought a Sena but was swayed by the fact the Cardo was actually IP rated.
Had always avoided these external mounted coms units as I felt they looked a bit bulky, however ive eventually realised that this is a sacrifice worth making. Im now fully connected to all my devices and can now utilise all my Nav, Music and Phone capabilities easily and safely. I generally ride alone but it's also nice that I have the coms to use if I ever need it. Im not the most tech savvy guy but these are very easy to set up and use. Thank you Cardo for a great product, and thanks Sportsbikeshop for a great price.
Connects well and easy to use, battery seems to last forever, not used the mesh yet but I’m sure with this quality product it will be fine
Installation was simple and quick to do. The speakers are clear and loud. Buttons on the unit are easy to use with gloves on and the system pairs up easy to mobile app and everything just works!
Well made easy to set up very clear worth the price
Bought this as my sena got a bit wet while a few of us were on tour in "sunny" Scotland (lmao), so as the majority of the riders had a Cardo, of some sort I thought I'd bit the bullet, anyways it's much clearer, totaly waterproof, connects instantly, just an allround better com's unit
Purchased as I ride with a group of Riders, the quality of sound is brilliant, communication with the other riders is very clear. Not only does it provide safety with the lead rider whilst riding looking out for hazards. We can all communicate simultaneously and the range is fantastic.
It's ok for the money but it s not the best sound . It breaks up and crackles but it's good for music loud enough
Easy to install, great sound quality, and a relatively simple App.
Great for comms. Great for music. Easy to install. Easy to connect to my phone. Water proof. I particularly like the natural voice control.
This is my second Cardo unit and is everything I wanted. Better than my older Cardo Q3 and with mesh connection, which is good.
I did have a few minor problems setting the unit to connect with my phone and TomTom GPS but that may have been down to me. Perseverance got me there eventually and it seems to work a dream now. The JBL speakers are really good as I am hard of hearing and wear ear plugs when I ride.
I’ve had many comms systems over the years of motorcycle riding in my opinion this is one of the best ! Easy to install and simple functional controls an absolute breeze .
It’s amusing that I never realised how much I needed this until I started using it. To be clear, I don’t ride in groups, so the intercom element is irrelevant. For me, the plus is being able to listen to music on the move. I initially thought it might be a distraction, it is, however only in the sense that it takes away the white noise of the wind and engine. I find i now ride far more relaxed on longer journeys with tunes to listen to. The JBL speakers are good and installation is straight forward (some good YouTube videos online). The only minor gripe might be that the thickness of the speakers might press against your ears in some helmet sizes/shapes. There are packs with spare pads/mounting brackets, so if you have multiple helmets it’s pretty easy to do. The actual cable installation only takes about 15 minutes.
Having had a packtalk slim previously, I found this easy to install, the app works well and the new features of the Neo are useful and add to the experience. The new setup to use the functions is relatively easy and just takes a little practise. The battery life is great and the speaker are loud. Very happy.
Liking this intercom so far, had the Free on before but every time I carried out a lifesaver to my left myself shoulder was either pushing the pause button or turning the volume up. So the fact the roller volume button is situated in the middle of the device is ideal. JBL speakers are great quality. Very impressed with it so far
Excellent service as all ways from sports bike shop! Cardo set up was extremely easy and sound is great in my HJC Rapha 11 helmet. Easy to pair using Bluetooth or mesh!
Sound quality is amazing
But some operations are confusing and too many options to complete a task renders messing about quite a bit to get to know the system
App helps but doesn't rectify all the hang ups
Connects well with none cardo Bluetooth competitors
I'm sure once lots of practice it will be child's play
But for now - a rubix cube
The units are very similar in terms of performance, however, the main differences are that the Packtalk Edge can charge while you ride, uses an Air Mount and comes with a 3yr warranty, whereas the Packtalk Neo cannot charge while you ride, uses a clip-in mount, and comes with a 2yr warranty.
Yes, this will connect via universal pairing mode for a one-to-one conversation. However, please note that this is only suitable for short distances, and you will not be able to listen to music, use satnav, or similar functions at the same time.
Find it cheaper at any major motorcycle accessory retailer, online or in-store and we‘ll match it.
