Shoei Hornet ADV - Sovereign TC10

This would have been 5 stars apart from the front chin vent. The lid is comfortable and reasonably quiet and I knew it wasn't safety rated 22.06 but was 22.05 but that was ok.
There is very turbulence and the colour scheme is spot on.
The chin vent is not. Hard to work with even summer gloves and I'm not convinced it's not broken because it appears very flimsy and does not close as I think it should. Unfortunately although extremely well packaged (and I mean three boxes including the helmet box) we do not have free returns here in Northern Ireland but I will ring and ask anyway for advice.
In summary I have had many Shoei helmets over many years including the original hornet and this is excellent apart from an uncharacteristically flimsy and useless front chin vent.

I've used Shoei helmets of every type for years, but first time for an ADV lid. The very top in quality and finish, this is the class act that Shoei's normally are. 5yr warranty too. After the Shoei VFX MX helmet I've been wearing with Oakley goggles for many summers, this Hornet is certainly noticeably heavier, although is still very comfortable. The visor seals well and the aperture gives really great peripheral vision, much safer than a normal helmet. The peak is really useful to keep the sun off your face, especially with a low sun, and safer than a built-in drop down sun visor. The venting works well and the helmet is as quiet I'd say as the Neotec 2 it replaces for me. I greatly prefer the double D ring fastening, perfect fit every time, so full marks again. The only downside I've noticed is it is more susceptible to cross winds and can slightly move the helmet as a result, compared to a non ADV helmet (my VFX MX helmet does not do this, so its the large visor causing this). But no prob, this is a great, quality helmet and at the SBS reduced price, a real bargain.

Very comfortable helmet,my head measures 56 found the medium fitted perfectly and not too tight on cheeks.worth spending a bit extra,even better that it was reduced,great service from SBS ordered three sizes to try in store,they also fitted pinlock for me which was included.

Great lid, lightweight and firm. Cuts out loads of wind noise and was comfy from the get go. Pin lock was a pain to get in but doable eventually. Visor easy to remove and replace

Outstanding quality just what I was looking for only thing is they never tell you there is a pinlock visor already with the helmet so I bought extra.

Recently purchased this as a replacement to an Arai TX4. I had the Arai a month and it was terrible and so noisy.
This Shoei Hornet is comfortable, quiet and so stable. Avoid any other peaked helmet and get this!! It's brilliant

Coming back to the adv after trying other brands. This fit well, performs well and hasn't dissapointed

Shoei make great helmets and the Hornet is perfect as a dual purpose helmet for on/off road use.

Sportsbikeshop were as awesome as ever and switched the liners to get me a perfect fit.

I bought this helmet because of the fit but have been impressed far beyond that. I have always shied away from Shoei due to cost but as Sportsbikeshop discounted this in a sale I thought why not. I will never go back to a cheaper helmet. It's been a game changer for my riding experience. The comms system sits perfectly in the recesses and helmet is built like nothing I have ever experienced before. Well done Shoei and sportsbikeshop for fitting it and advising me on its features. The guy in the shop knew some great tips when fitting that I didn't know after 30 years of riding!!

Great helmet, very happy with all so far, only thing these type of helmets lack is drop down sun visor, just will have to get used to wearing sunglasses. Really good quality.

Having owned many helmets from other makers in the past, this reviewer keeps returning to Shoei. With peerless build quality and superb comfort, there's no need for me to look anywhere else. The wide visor aperture aids peripheral vision, the vents really work [at road speeds] and the peak reduces glare. A word for SBS - the item was delivered within 24 hours and at a terrific discount.
